SOUTH AFRICA
The Proteas managed to earn 14 points in the group stage by winning seven of the nine games they played. This placed them second on the table, securing their spot in the semifinals. They are 4/1 to win the tournament at the time of writing.
In their most recent game against Afghanistan, they lost the toss and were asked to field. Despite not taking any early wickets, South Africa kept the run scoring low and began to take wickets at regular intervals. This trend continued through the innings, resulting in Afghanistan scoring 244 runs before being bowled out in the last over. Gerald Coetzee delivered another notable performance, taking four wickets in the ten overs he bowled.
South Africa followed this with a strong start to their innings, only losing their first wicket after scoring 64 runs, putting them on the front foot in the match. They increased the pressure on Afghanistan, with van der Dussen scoring an impressive 71 runs. This eventually proved too much for the Afghan side as South Africa chased down the 244 runs in the 48th over, securing the Proteas their seventh win of the tournament and a place in the semifinals.

AUSTRALIA
The group stages saw Australia also win seven of their nine games, securing them third place on the table and a spot in the semifinals. They are 7/2 to win the tournament heading into the semifinals.
In their last game of the group stage, they faced Bangladesh and won the toss, choosing to bowl first. Australia were not able to strike early only taking the first wicket when Bangladesh had 76 runs on the board. The run-scoring continued throughout the innings, allowing Bangladesh to reach 306 runs in the 50 overs, with Australia taking eight wickets in total.
Australia were on top of the chase from the start, with Warner and Smith scoring half-centuries, and notably, Mitchell Marsh contributing a total of 177 runs in a superb knock. This effort enabled them to chase down the 306 runs in the 45th over, losing only two wickets. This victory marked their seventh in the tournament and in succession and secured their spot in the semifinals.

South Africa 23/20
Australia 15/20
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These two teams have met six times this year, with the Proteas winning four of those encounters. The most recent game took place in the group stage of this World Cup, where South Africa secured a victory by 134 runs.
Suggested Bet: Quinton de Kock to score a 50 at 29/20
De Kock has displayed excellent form so far, currently ranking second, 3 runs behind Kohli for the highest run-scorer. He has led the South Africans to some high scores and I am betting on another big contribution from this great player.
Suggested Bet: South Africa to win at 23/20
Despite having very similar records in the World Cup so far, South Africa has managed to beat Australia in the series leading up to the tournament and they also defeated Australia in the group game where they faced each other. Australia are much improved and there is certainly a hint of patriotism in this bet but I think the Proteas get the job done.
