Pakistan take on Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in an ICC Cricket World Cup match on Tuesday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.
India have shortened into 11/10 favourites to win the World Cup ahead of Australia at 11/4, South Africa 7/2, and New Zealand at 6/1. The top 4 spots look fairly settled and Pakistan are 125/1 to win the title with Bangladesh out to 1000/1.

PAKISTAN
Pakistan are currently 6th on the table with 2 wins and 4 defeats in their 6 matches. They are 4 points behind 4th place Australia with only 3 games left to play.
Pakistan’s last match was against South Africa in Chennai on Friday and they won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing Shafique with the score on 20, Pakistan built towards what looked a respectable 270 before they were bowled out in the 47th over. Babar Azam got 50 and Shakeel top scored with 52 at a run a ball.
South Africa threatened on many occasions to get the run chase under control, but Pakistan kept hitting back with wickets at key times. In the end, South Africa limped over the line, scoring 271 for 9 in the 48th over. Shaheen Afridi was the leading wicket-taker with 3 for 45 off his 10 overs and the defeat left Pakistan with a mountain to climb to have any chance of making the final four.
BANGLADESH
Bangladesh are sitting second from bottom of the table, having played 6 matches and winning only 1 of them. Bangladesh’s last match was against the Netherlands at Eden Gardens and it was a game they would have been expecting to win.
The Netherlands won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 229 off their 50 overs. Bangladesh were amongst the wickets early and had the Netherlands 4 for 2 at one stage, but the middle order and the tail of the Netherlands managed to keep them in the game. 4 bowlers from Bangladesh picked up two wickets and pick of them was Mustafizur Rahman with his 2 for 36 in 10 overs.
Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals in the chase and were soon in trouble eventually limping their way to 142 all out in the 43rd over. Only Mahidy Hasan Miraz threatened with the bat scoring 35 runs off 40 balls.

Pakistan 2/7
Bangladesh 5/2
Suggested Bet: Bangladesh win at 5/2
I think that defeat to South Africa would have taken the wind out of Pakistan’s sails as it really looked towards the end that the game was theirs for the taking. They will know that their chances of making the last 4 are all, but done and although Bangladesh haven’t been playing well they can take advantage of this Pakistan mindset and the 5/2 is too big for me to resist.
Suggested Bet: Babar Azam to score a 50, yes, at 1/1
Azam hasn’t had the best of World Cups, but he showed in his last innings that he is finding form and I am backing him to reach the 50 mark for the second time in a row.
