Ireland’s team has only played 2 matches in ODI format this year, with their most recent action against Afghanistan in March. The 2 matches were played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE and Ireland fell short on both occasions, losing the first match by 35 runs, just 4 days later they lost the second match by 117 runs.
Prior to this they played a three-match series against Zimbabwe in December, where they won the series, being victorious in two of the matches and one ended in a no result.
South Africa are coming off of a recent three-match series against Afghanistan. The matches were held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the Proteas side struggled to find their form, losing the first two matches by massive margins, with the first being a 6-wicket defeat and the second saw them fall 177 runs short on the run chase. The third match went their way with them winning dominantly by 7 wickets.
Their last action before this was a three-match series at home against India in December last year where they lost the series 2-1.
Head-to-Head
The last time these sides met in ODI matches was in July 2021, where the series was held at The Village Stadium in Dublin. The first match ended in a no result, with the second going the way of Ireland who won by 43 runs. The third match was won by South Africa when Ireland fell 70 runs short with bat in hand.
These sides met last weekend in two T20 fixtures, also held in Abu Dhabi, where South Africa won the first game by a solid 8 wickets, the second match however went the way of Ireland who clinched a 10-run victory to end the series 1-1.

South Africa should be harder to beat in the longer format but I cannot have them at the price and will look to the top bat markets for an interest.
