AUSTRALIA
Australia lost their opening 2 games of the World Cup, but they have bounced back with 6 successive victories and they will play South Africa in the Semi-Finals next week.
Their last game against Afghanistan turned out to be one of the matches of the Tournament after Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat. They put up a solid total of 291 for 5 and Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with his 2 for 39 off 9 overs.
The Australians quickly found themselves in trouble with Travis Head dismissed for a duck and the wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals with the 7th wicket falling with the score on 91 in the 19th over. That brought Glenn Maxwell and Captain, Pat Cummins to the crease together and Maxwell proceeded to deliver what was widely considered the best ODI innings of all time. Despite not being able to walk at time due to major cramp he scored 201 off 128 balls and Pat Cummins stayed with him on the other end scoring 12 off 68 balls to see Australia home with just over 3 overs to spare and an unbeaten 200 run 8th wicket stand.
BANGLADESH
Bangladesh are currently 8th on the log and they have had a disappointing World Cup winning 2 and losing 6 matches. Their last game was a victory though and it came against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first restricting them to 279 and then bowled them out in the 50th over. Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the Top Bowler with 3 for 80, but he was expensive and there were good turns from Shoriful Islam with 2 for 51 off 9.3 overs and Shakib al Hasan with 2 for 57 off 10 overs.
Bangladesh lost 2 wickets for 41 runs before a massive partnership between Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Captain, Shakib Al Hasan saw them home. Shanto ended with 90 off 101 balls and Hasan with 82 off 65 as Bangladesh chased the runs down with almost 9 overs to spare and 3 wickets in hand.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides have met 21 times with Australia winning 19, Bangladesh 1 and 1 no result. Their last meeting was in the 2019 ICC World Cup where Australia won by 48 runs.

Australia 1/9
Bangladesh 5/1
Suggested Bet: Top Bowler, Adam Zampa at 29/10
Zampa was our pre-tournament pick at 18/1 to be the Top Bowler. He is right in the thick of things and a big haul here could almost seal the deal. Zampa is one of those bowlers that the opposition batsmen try to get on top of and that often leads to wickets falling.
Suggested Bet: Bangladesh Total at First Dismissal under 20.5 at 17/20
Bangladesh’s opening pair haven’t impressed me throughout the World Cup and I fancy the Australians to come hard at them and get an early wicket.
