1st Test
To kick off the series, England won the toss and chose to bat first. With impressive performances from Jadeja and Ashwin, each securing three wickets, the English side struggled to put up significant runs. Ben Stokes emerged as the sole batsman to achieve a half-century, scoring 70 runs for his side. Ultimately, England was bowled out for 246 runs in the 65th over.
India started their batting innings strongly, with Jaiswal delivering an impressive opening performance of 80 runs. Sustaining the momentum, Rahul and Jadeja each contributed with over 80 runs. Their innings concluded with a total of 436 runs in the 121st over, mainly due to Joe Root’s four-wicket haul.
In the second innings, England had a promising start, losing only one wicket in the first 10 overs. Ollie Pope played a significant role, scoring a massive 196 runs and putting England back in the game. Bumrah later took control, securing four wickets as England was eventually bowled out for 420 runs in the 103rd over, establishing a 230-run lead.
The final innings witnessed a subpar performance from India, with no batsman able to score more than 40 runs. Tom Hartley played a crucial role, claiming seven wickets in the 27 overs he bowled. India was bowled out for 202 runs, resulting in a 28-run victory for England and a 1-0 lead in the series.
