Durban Super Giants are 2nd on the log, level with the Paarl Royals, but having played a game more.
They tasted defeat for the first time on Thursday when they went down to the Pretoria Capitals at Centurion Park. The Capitals had won the toss and elected to bat scoring 204 for 9 in their 20 overs. Reece Topley was the pick of the Giants bowlers with 3 for 34 in his 4 overs.
The Giants were always battling in the chase and although they reached 187 for 7 in 20 overs they never looked like winning the game. Matthew Breetzke top scored with 33 off 24 balls.
SUNRISERS EASTERN CAPE
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape are 3rd on the log with 1 win, 1 loss, and a no result in their opening 3 games.
They were in action in Match 8 away to Mi Cape Town where they won the toss and decided to bat, a move that paid off when they scored 202 for 2 off their 20 overs. Jordan Hermann was outstanding with the bat with an unbeaten 106 off 62 balls. The Sunrisers then restricted Mi Cape Town to 198 for 5 for a 4 run victory with Ottniel Baartman the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 35 off his 4 overs.
Head-to-Head
These sides met earlier in the competition in Match 5 when the Durban Super Giants won by 35 runs at St Georges Park. They batted first scoring 225 for 3 with JJ Smuts getting 75 off just 38 balls. The Sunrisers Eastern Cape replied with 190 for 9, Tom Abell the top bat with 65 runs off 36 balls.
The top Eastern Cape bowler was Daniel Worrall with 2 for 35 and for the Durban Super Giants, it was Dwaine Pretorius with 2 for 19 in 2 overs.

Jansen hasn’t really fired with his bowling in this Tournament, but I got the feeling he was finding his rhythm in the last match and I am hoping he takes the commentators advice and hits the pitch hard using his height to his advantage. If he does, the wickets may well tumble.

Durban can be a tricky round to call as far as 6’s are concerned and in the first match this season, the balls were flying over the boundary, but it is not always that straight-forward for the batsmen.
