DURBAN SUPER GIANTS
The Durban Super Giants opened their campaign against the Joburg Super Kings and they went down by 16 runs failing to chase down a massive 191 for victory.
They bounced back strongly in their next match in Cape Town against MI Cape Town winning by 5 wickets with 21 balls remaining. The Durban Super Giants had elected to field first after winning the toss and they restricted the Cape Town side to a 152 for 8 with most of the bowlers getting amongst the wickets. They then knocked off the runs with 5 wickets in hand and 3.5 overs to spare. Once again it was a real team contribution with Heinrich Klaasen the Top Batsman with 36 off 22 balls, but there were also plenty of other contributions from the other batsmen.
PAARL ROYALS
The Paarl Royals lost their opening match to MI Cape Town getting beaten by 8 Wickets after only scoring 142 for 7 in their 20 overs.
Their next game was against the Joburg Super Kings and they had a convincing 7 wicket win with 57 balls remaining. Joburg Super Kings had won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that back-fired as the Paarl Royals bowled them out for 81 with Fortuin and Jones both getting 3 wickets apiece. Paarl Royals knocked the runs off with few problems, the top scorer was Jos Buttler not out on 29.
