SUNRISERS EASTERN CAPE
The Sunrisers Eastern Cape sit in 3rd on the log after winning 3 and losing 3 of their 6 matches. After a shaky start to the tournament, they have bounced back with 3 wins in a row leaving them with 15 points.
They took on the Pretoria Capitals at home on Wednesday the 22nd of January where they lost the toss and were sent in to bat first.
They crumbled early on to 53/5 halfway through the innings but some solid partnerships in the back end enabled them to reach a total of 149/7. Top Batsman was captain Aiden Markram who put up 68 runs off 55 balls.
Their bowling attack then fired from the get-go and with wickets falling frequently they were able to restrict the Capitals and bowl them out for 97, winning the match by 52 runs.
Top Sunrisers Bowler was Marco Jansen who took 4 wickets for 13 runs in his 4 over spell.
JOBURG SUPER KINGS
The Joburg Super Kings are in 4th overall after 5 games of which they have won 2, lost 2 and the remaining match ended in a no contest. They are on a poor run, losing 2 games in a row.
They clashed with an in-form Paarl Royals side away from home for their most recent match on Monday the 20th of January. The match begun with the Royals winning the toss and electing to field first.
The Super Kings struggled to get going with bat in hand due to wickets dropping at regular intervals and it wasn’t until the last few overs where they stepped things up ending on a total of 146/6. Johnny Bairstow topped the batting charts with 60 runs from 40 deliveries.
The Super Kings bowlers put the batsmen under pressure early, however they still allowed them to score at a decent rate and eventually they reached the total with 5 balls remaining, resulting in a 6-wicket loss for the Super Kings.
Star bowler was claimed by Hardus Viljoen who took 2 wickets for 23 runs in his 4 overs bowled.
