The high flying Paarl Royals host the battling Durban Super Giants at the Boland Park stadium in Paarl on Monday in match 23 of the SA20 and we take a look at their current form and some betting options.
The Paarl Royals top the log with 6 wins and 1 loss in 7 matches and they are the 18/10 joint favourites with MI Cape Town to win the competition at the time of writing (prior to Sundays match). The Durban Super Giants are out to 28/1 and sit bottom of the log and have a very slim chance of making the playoffs.

Paarl Royals
The Royals were at home to the Pretoria Capitals on Saturday and were asked to bat after losing the toss. They battled to get the scoreboard moving but never panicked and reached 140/4 in their 20 overs thanks to a strong finish and a brilliant 78* off 56 balls for Joe Root who was dropped in bizarre fashion early in his innings.
Paarl Royals had selected an all spin attack and they applied pressure on the Capitals from the outset. In the end they won by 11 runs restricting the Capitals to 129/7 in 20 overs. Fortuin, Root and Ur Rahman each picked up 2 wickets with the latter going at only 4.25 runs per over.
Durban Super Giants
DSG took on MICT in Cape Town on Saturday and after losing the toss they were asked to set a total. They were in big trouble at 22-3 in the 7th over but Kane Williamson with 56 off 44 balls and Klaasen’s 66 off 43 balls saw then to a respectable 149/6.
MICT got off to a quick start through only losing their 1st wicket in the 9th over with half of the total already banked. They ended up winning by 7 wickets in the 15th over and pick of the DSG bowlers was skipper Maharaj with 1-23 in his 4 overs.

Paarl Royals 7/10
Durban Super Giants 12/10
It is hard to argue with the betting giving how well Paarl are going at home and DSG’s general struggles and I will look to some of the other markets on offer for betting action.
Paarl Royals Race to 10 runs: Pretorius/Root at 8/10
Pretorius is a bit hit and miss but assuming he survives just a few balls he is likely to beat Root to 10 runs. Note if both fail the bet will lose as “neither” to make 10 runs is quoted at 10/1.
DSG Player to score most 6’s Stoinis at 5/1
Stoinis is a late comer to this seasons SA20 but he showed lat year what a strong player he is and given the brittle DSG top order he should get plenty of opportunity at the crease.
