The Super Kings most recent match was against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, where they lost the toss and had to bat first. They started badly, losing four wickets before reaching the 50-run mark. This trend continued throughout the innings, resulting in the Super Kings only scoring 78 runs before being bowled out, with Madsen topping the batting with only 32 runs.
Their bowling performance wasn’t much stronger, easily allowing the Sunrisers to chase down the 78 runs in only the 11th over, with Lizaad Williams taking the only wicket for the side. This resulted in the Super Kings experiencing their 5th loss of the tournament, placing them 5th on the table and needing to win this game to stand a chance of reaching the playoffs.
DURBAN SUPER GIANTS
The Durban Super Giants last match saw them face the Pretoria Capitals in Durban, where they won the toss and decided to bat first. Breetzke quickly got the run-scoring started, topping the batting with 73 runs off 46 balls. This was supported by decent performances from his teammates and they eventually scored a total of 174 runs in the 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process.
Despite taking a wicket on the second ball, the Super Giants then allowed the Capitals back into the game as their middle order score some decent runs. The Capitals were not able to stay up with the run rate though scoring 166/5 in 20 overs. This gave the Super Giants their 7th win of the tournament, keeping them at the top of the table
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time these two sides faced each other was earlier in this year’s tournament, where the Super Giants managed to earn a 37-run win over the Super Kings in Durban.
