Joburg Super Kings finished 4th on the log last season despite only winning 3 of their 10 matches. They lost 5 and the other 2 were no results. In the eliminator they beat the Paarl Royals by 9 wickets in Johannesburg and earned the right to meet the Durban Super Giants in the second qualifier. They won the toss and sent the Durban Super Giants in, but failed to contain them, conceding 211 runs in 20 overs. Nandre Burger was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 27 in his 4 overs. Joburg Super Kings were bowled out for 142 for a 69 run loss. Moeen Ali was the top bat with 30 at just more than a run a ball.
Faf du Plessis will captain the Kings and a lot will be expected of Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow. The key man for me though could be Gerald Coetzee, the tear-away quick bowler who has been suffering from injuries of late.
MI Cape Town have been disappointing in the first two seasons of the SA20 and they didn’t look good early on in the first match away to the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. They lost the toss and were sent in to bat and appeared to be struggling when Dewald Brevis showed a welcome return to form scoring 57 off 29. MI Cape Town finished on 174 for 7 and they then bowled their opponents out for 77 in 15 overs. Delano Potgieter who had also contributed with the bat, taking 5 for 10 in his 3 overs secured the Player of the Match award. Trent Boult was impressive at the top of the innings taking 2 for 16 in 3 overs.

Joburg Super Kings 1/1
MI Cape Town 8/10
I saw enough of MI Cape Town in the opening game to short-list them as likely winners of the tournament. Trent Boult was exceptional at the top of the order and there is plenty of depth in the ranks. I am going to back them to continue their excellent start.
BET: MI Cape Town win at 8/10
The Wanderers is the ground where the ball can fly high and handsome and I am going to bet that we get 15 or more sixes in the match. The line is 14.5, 2 higher than we got in Gqeberha in Match 1 and there we had 11 sixes in the first innings, although unbelievably only 1 in the response of the Sunrisers Super Kings.
BET: Over 14.5 6’s at 9/10
As mentioned above I was impressed with Boult and I can see him getting plenty of wickets at the top of the order and at the death. I am backing him to take 2 wickets or more.
BET: Boult over 1.5 wicket at 11/10
