MotoGP returns this weekend after a short break, with the action shifting to the Red Bull Ring in Austria. We’ll be taking a betting-focused look at this week’s race, along with track insights and a suggested bet for your consideration.
Previous Race – Czechia MotoGP
The most recent round in Czechia saw Marc Marquez extend his remarkable run of form, claiming his fifth consecutive victory. Marco Bezzecchi secured second place, while Pedro Acosta rounded out the podium in third.
World Championship Update
With Marc Marquez continuing to dominate the standings, the “winner without Marc Marquez” market has become an interesting angle for bettors. Alex Marquez leads this category as the clear favourite at 1.18, sitting on 261 points. Francesco Bagnaia, currently on 213 points, is priced at 5.00 to take the title without the elder Marquez in the equation.

Track Insights – Red Bull Ring
The Red Bull Ring, located in Spielberg, Austria, is one of the fastest circuits on the calendar. Its 4.32 km layout features long straights, heavy braking zones, and a mix of tight corners that reward top-end speed and strong acceleration out of slow turns. The track’s elevation changes add to the challenge, with Turn 3 and Turn 4 being key overtaking spots. Ducati machinery has traditionally performed well here due to its power advantage, while riders who can manage tyre wear in the hot Austrian summer conditions tend to excel late in the race.

Last Year’s Race – 2024 Austrian MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia claimed victory at the Red Bull Ring in 2024, with Jorge Martin finishing second and Enea Bastianini completing the podium. Marc Marquez crossed the line in fourth, while Alex Marquez ended the race in 10th place. South Africa’s Brad Binder delivered a strong performance to take fifth.
Verdict
Marc Marquez has been in imperious form this season, winning the last five races. Backing him to win again is the obvious choice, although the bookmakers have him at just 1.40. At some point, he’s likely to make a mistake or face a setback, and the key question is who will capitalise. The two most likely candidates are Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez. While Alex sits higher in the current World Championship standings, Bagnaia has beaten him in two of the last three races. Considering his pace at this venue and last year’s win, Bagnaia offers appealing value.
Suggested Bet: Francesco Bagnaia to win at 6.50.
