Stage 5 of La Vuelta starts in Morella and ends 186.2 kilometres later in Burriana.
STAGE 4 WRAP
Stage 4 delivered our first winner of the La Vuelta with Kaden Groves arriving at 11/10. It was by no means a straight forward sprint stage and a hard day in the saddle, but the small break was always kept under control and the sprinter teams controlled the tempos over the two categorized climbs before setting up a bunch finish.
As feared the technical route caused a few problems and second favourite Marijn Van Den Berg crashed on one of the final bends. It was only Kaden Groves who could take the wheel of Molano (forced to open his sprint early after the crash) before sprinting around him for the win.
JERSEY UPDATE
There is no change in the General Classification where Remco Evenepoel continues to lead by 5 seconds from Enric Mas and Vingegaard remains an 11/10 favourite. Kaden Groves has now taken over the Green Jersey where he is an 8/10 favourite and Eduardo Sepulveda is in the Polka Dot Jersey, but Vingegaard remains the favourite there at 5/1.

THE ROUTE
The fact that Groves is priced as an even money favourite for this one suggests that this will be a sprint finish and that is the most likely outcome, but once again in the La Vuelta it is not going to be straight forward. The stage has a similar look to yesterday’s one although with a harder start and the climbs in the second-half are not as tough. It is certainly terrain where a strong breakaway could get away and make life very difficult for the sprinter’s teams.

PREDICTION
There was not a lot of appetite to get into the break yesterday with the knowledge that the sprinters teams would be looking to set up a bunch finish. The same applies today with a couple of exceptions and that is that the teams of the sprinters like Groves and Van Den Berg had to work very hard yesterday and it is not going to be easy to reproduce that effort two days in a row and also the start is a lot tougher making it harder to control the break.
I am leaning towards a bunch sprint here, but not with the same confidence I was yesterday and I give the break a very real chance.

Once again it is the insurance for the 2nd place finish with World Sports Betting that has me taking Groves to win. If it does come down to a sprint he is going to be very hard to beat and I would be very surprised if he finished outside the Top 2 which would mean our money back.

These are very small plays, but at the prices they could deliver good returns. If a strong break goes clear I would not be surprised to see Bissegger in there especially as his teammate, Van Den Berg crashed yesterday and may not be a 100%.
Godon delivered for me at a big price in a race much earlier in the season and as a good climber with a decent sprint he can win from a small breakaway
