VINCENTE LUQUE VS. RAFAEL DOS ANJOS
Welterweight main event:
Vincente Luque returns to the Octagon on Sunday after just over a year since his last fight. Luque is currently sitting on a 2-fight losing streak with both of his losses taking place last year. Prior to 2022 he was in powerful form and went 4 fights without a loss, including wins against Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa, both via submission.
Although he possesses solid grappling skills, Luque is also known for his striking and even though he enters the bout as the underdog, he will be looking to open his 2023 account with a win and is capable of causing an upset.
Rafael Dos Anjos has also had a break since his last UFC fight, with his last bout being in December of last year. Dos Anjos has won 3 of his last 5 fights (losses to Michael Chiesa and Rafael Fiziev) , with 2 going the distance and resulting in a decision win, showing that he has the stamina to go the distance this weekend.
Dos Anjos is best known for his experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he won his last fight in round 2 via submission against Bryan Barberena and the bookies have him the slight favourite for this fight.

Luque (21/20)
Draw 25/1
Dos Anjos (9/10)
Prediction:
With both fighters being extremely dangerous on attack, this fight promises to be full of action and although Dos Anjos doesn’t pack a punch quite as hard as Luque, I believe that he will attack strategically and defeat Luque via TKO late in round 2.

CUB SWANSON VS HAKEEM DAWODU
Featherweight bout:
Cub Swanson fighting out of America, is an extremely experienced mixed martial artist who has conquered the likes of Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier in the Octagon before. However, at the age of 39, he is nearing the end of his professional career and he lost his most recent fight as a result of a second-round stoppage.
Swanson, being the underdog here, will look to use his experience in order to try and defeat his opponent on Sunday with what will most likely be a strategic approach.
Hakeem Dawodu is a Canadian fighter who is very technical and hard-hitting, just like Swanson he is also coming off a loss in his most recent fight (last September) and he will be looking to get back on the winning side of things.
Dawodu is a younger fighter (32), giving him a speed and strength advantage in this matchup and overall making him the favourite for this bout. 7 of his 9 UFC fights have gone the distance, showing that he is always in peak athletic shape.

Swanson (15/18)
Draw 25/1
Dawodu (9/20)
Prediction:
A fight against the veteran, Swanson, is always going to be tough, but with the strength and athleticism that Dawodu has shown I believe that he will pick up enough points throughout the fight to win by decision.
KHALIL ROUNTREE VS. CHRIS DAUKAUS
Light Heavyweight event:
After years of inconsistency, Khalil Rountree has finally found his form and he enters this bout on a 3-fight winning streak. He is well known for his brutal striking, but he is also said to move extremely fast for someone in the Light Heavyweight division.
He will be confident leading up to this fight and he will be hungry to add to his current winning streak.
Chris Daukaus recently faced 3 consecutive losses in the heavyweight division, failing to go the distance in all of them, before opting to drop to the light heavyweight division in hopes of turning things around.
Daukaus will experience a tough first fight in his new weight division and he will feel the pressure to perform in a desperate attempt to end his losing run and make a statement that his career is still very much alive.

Rountree (11/20)
Draw 25/1
Daukaus (31/20)
Prediction:
Even given Daukaus’ efforts to turn his current form around and drop a weight division, I believe that Rountree is simply too good and he will win in round 2 via TKO.
SUGGESTED BETS
Dos Anjos win at 9/10
Dawodu win by Decision at 37/20
Rountree to win in round 2 at 4/1
The above treble works out at 21/1
