After a couple of heavy days in the Pyrenees the sprinters should be rewarded for dragging their bodies over the mountains as they contest a 169.9 kilometre stage from Mont-de-Marsan to Bordeaux with only one small Cat 4 climb along the way,
STAGE 6 WRAP UP
This Tour de France has thrown up some incredible excitement in the first week and Thursday’s Stage 6 was no exception. Smart money was on Jonas Vingegaard to put the hammer down and ride Pogacar right out of the race, however the Slovenian had other ideas and when Jumbo-Visma implemented their plan of getting Vingegaard to link up with Wout Van Aert at the top of the Col du Tourmalet, Pogacar managed to keep the wheel and then attacked on the final climb putting 24 seconds between himself and Vingegaard.
Yellow Jersey, Jai Hindley had a bad day and was soon in trouble finishing 2 minutes 39 back and it looks like Vingegaard and Pogacar will fight each other tooth and nails throughout the three weeks.
JERSEY UPDATE
Jonas Vingegaard is in the Yellow Jersey, but feeling a lot less comfortable about life than he was 24 hours before. He is currently the 9/10 favourite having been 1/5 prior to Stage 6 and Pogacar has moved into 1/1 from 9/2. Jai Hindley is still the 3rd favourite, but at a massive 33/1.
Pogacar has also taken over as favourite of the King of the Mountains Jersey and he is priced at 3/1 with Vingegaard at 4/1.
Jasper Philipsen is the 3/10 favourite for the Green Jersey and Ineos Grenadiers have shortened into 4/10 to win the Team competition.

THE ROUTE
Stage 7 looks pretty straight forward and with some tired legs in the peloton it remains to be seen what type of break will get away. Personally, I am betting on a 3 or 4 man break being allowed off the front with the sprint teams controlling matters and allowing them no more than 3 to 4 minutes advantage.
There is an intermediate sprint after 88 kilometres so we should see some action from the peloton and the Cat 4 climb at 1.2 kilometres at 4.4% should not trouble any of the fast men.
THE VERDICT
There is no way the sprinters are going to let the breakaway steal their thunder in this one and it is all going to come down to a bunch finish where it is hard to look past another Jasper Philipsen win. He delivered for us in Stage 3 and I am backing him with the 2nd place insurance to kick in should he just get beaten.
Suggested Bet: Jasper Philipsen Win at 1/1
