Stage 20 of Tour de France 2022 takes place on Saturday 23rd July, an individual time trial over 40.7km
STAGE 19 RECAP
Stage 19 was hard ridden and the break never got any leeway from the Peloton set on setting up a sprint finish. The problem was though that the dominant Jumbo-Visma team had other plans and it was Christophe Laporte who made a late break from the peloton to catch the tiring breakaway and then before it all came back together he jumped clear to win the stage from a disappointed Philipsen with Dainese riding an excellent race in third. The General Classification riders all came in safely.

STAGE 20 ROUTE AND PREDICTIONS
We have a 40.7 kilometre time trial and at first glance the profile looks flat, but there is however quite a bit of rolling hill and 2 quite significant climbs near the end. The first, 1.67 kilometres at 4.7% with around 5 kilometres to go and then the climb to the finish of 1.5 kilometres at 7.8% and it is this climb that is particularly significant as it should ensure that some of the time trial specialists who are not great at climbing will lose too much time to win the stage.
Given his form in the third week it is no surprise to see Wout van Aert priced as the favourite and the only challenger I can see for him is Filippo Ganna who may have the benefit of riding into a slightly weaker head wind early in the stage due to his early start time.
Van Aert though should be too strong and I think he can replicate his Stage 20 Time Trial win of 2021 and can be backed at 5/6 knowing there is a money back for 2nd place insurance with World Sports Betting.
Selection: Wout Van Aert at 5/6
