Only 10 seconds separate leader, Jonas Vingegaard from 2nd placed Tadej Pogacar as we head into the final week of the Tour de France.
Stage 16 takes place on Tuesday and is a 22.4 kilometres Time Trial which includes a 2.5 kilometre classified climb rising at an average of 9.4%.
STAGE 15 WRAP UP
Wout Poels attacked his breakaway companions, Van Aert and Soler on the penultimate climb of Stage 15 and he rode away to win by over 2 minutes from Wout Van Aert and a fast finishing Burgaudeau. Our pick for the stage, Ciccone was in the break, but he contested for King of the Mountain points which drained his energy and he ended up fading to finish 14th. Pogacar and Vingegaard finished together with Adam Yates 20 seconds behind.
JERSEY UPDATE
Jonas Vingegaard managed to get through the stage without losing any time to Pogacar and he has now replaced Pogacar as favourite and is 8/10 with Pogacar 21/20. Ciccone is now favourite for the King of the Mountains Jersey at 2/1 with Pogacar and Vingegaard both priced at 9/4. Philipsen is 7/100 to win the Points Classification and Ineos Grenadiers and Jumbo-Visma are joint favourites at 7/4 for the team competition.

THE ROUTE
The first 16 kilometres are fairly flat, but we then have a Cat 2 climb of 2.5 kilometres at 9.4% and the final 3.5 kilometres are on gradual rising road. The time trial is long enough that tactics can come into play and managing your effort over the 22.4 kilometres route will be crucial.

VERDICT
The bookmakers cannot separate Pogacar and Vingegaard in this Time Trial and the only other rider under 10/1 Wout Van Aert. It is not a confident pick, but I am going for Pogacar to win this one as he tends to perform in Time Trials when the pressure is on and he seems to have good legs.
This bet comes with the money back for 2nd place insurance, but let’s hope we don’t need it.
Suggested Bet: Pogacar win at 27/20
