Stage 14 of the Tour de France starts in Annemasse and ends 151.8 kilometres in Morzine. There are mountains scattered throughout the stage and it is certain to dish up plenty of action.
STAGE 13 WRAP
Ineos Grenadiers, Michal Kwiatkowski got himself in to the breakaway and managed to hold on up the final climb for the win ahead of Van Gils and a fast finishing Pogacar who grabbed 4 bonus seconds. It was a strange stage in that a big break was allowed to go clear after a long battle and then Pogacar’s UAT came on the front clearly intent on chasing it down. They were unable to do so though and Pogacar had to be content with 4 bonus seconds and a further 4 seconds he put into his Yellow Jersey rival, Vingegaard.
JERSEY UPDATE
Vingegaard now leads Pogacar by 9 seconds, but Pogacar has shortened from 9/10 to 8/10 in the betting and Vingegaard himself is on offer at 11/10.

Pogacar has also shortened to 18/10 favourite in the King of the Mountains and Jasper Philipsen appears to have the points classification wrapped up and is 7/100. Ineos Grenadiers have shortened again in the Team classification betting to 4/11 with Bahrain Victorious available at 3/1

THE ROUTE
The riders climb gradually from the gun and it is not long before they hit a Cat 3 climb of 4.2 kilometres at 4.6%. From then on it is up and down virtually all day with 3 Cat 1 climbs, an out-of-category climb the Col de Joux Plane which summits 12 kilometres from the finish. The riders then plunge down the a technical descent in what should make for thrilling viewing. There are bonus seconds available at the top of the final climb.
VERDICT
Pogacar’s UAT team did a lot of work for very little reward in Stage 13 and I see them being on the defensive in Stage 14 where Jumbo-Visma are going to try to deal a knock-out blow to Pogacar. The break must have a strong chance of sticking because Jumbo-Visma don’t particularly want to bring the bonus seconds into play, but at the same time Vingegaard will be looking for the stage win and there is every chance that the break gets picked up. Despite the fact that Pogacar is likely to be under pressure all day I think he can stay on Vingegaard’s wheel and ultimately either break clear of him or beat him in the sprint to win the stage.
Suggested Bet: Tadej Pogacar win at 7/2
Should there be a break there is a good chance that South African Louis Meintjes could be in it and I am going to back him at 22/1.
Suggested Bet: Louis Meintjes win at 22/1
