The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles is the venue for the Genesis Invitational and Jon Rahm once again heads the betting.
The Riviera Country Club is a par 71 layout that is always a stern test for golfers. Distance off the tee is an advantage but not critical and more important will be finding the Greens in Regulation and putting on the tricky surfaces.
Jon Rahm invariably starts favourite when he tees it up these days but his backers may be getting a bit frustrated as he has been playing well but has been falling short. He was 10th last week and he has a pair of top 3 finishes in his last 4 starts but I am going to take him on this week.

Selections
Rory Mcilroy each way at 22/1
Rory is coming off a couple of weeks off and prior to that he had a Top 5 and a Top 15 finish in Dubai. He missed the cut here last year, but prior to that had some excellent course form with a couple of Top 5 finishes and I am expecting a big run from Rory this week.
Hideki Matsuyama each way at 25/1
Matsuyama narrowly let us down last week when he finished just outside the places, but I am prepared to give him another go at a course where he had some excellent form all be it mixed with some missed cuts. He was 5th here two years ago and the year before that was Top 10 and he also has a Top 5 finish to his credit 6 starts back. Matsuyama is in decent form and prior to his 8th place last week he had a Top 30 and a victory.
Will Zalatoris each way at 30/1
Zalatoris is in good nick and his last two finishes have been Top 10’s with a runner-up finish in his last start. He was 15th here on debut last year so there is plenty to suggest that he likes the course and can build on that opening effort.
Talor Gooch each way at 66/1
Gooch is my outsider this week and he had a solid enough showing last week with a Top 30 finish. That was his 3rd Top 20 in his last 5 starts and he now plays at a course where he hasn’t finished outside the Top 20 in 3 starts and was 12th last year and a 10th the year before. His game is well suited to this layout and I am expecting a good run for my money at 66/1.
