Ireland take on England in a Group 1 Super 12 T20 World Cup match on Wednesday. The match takes place in Melbourne and we take a closer look at the betting.
IRELAND
Ireland are under pressure after been hammered by 9 wickets by Sri Lanka in their opening game. Ireland won the toss and decided to take first use of the pitch, but despite some fighting performances at the top of the order they were restricted to 128 for 8. Top scorer was Harry Tector with 45 off 42 balls.
Sri Lanka knocked up the runs with 5 overs to spare and 9 wickets in hand and there wasn’t much to report on the bowling front other than Gareth Delaney’s 1 for 28 off 4 overs.
ENGLAND
England got their campaign off to a strong start with a 5 wicket victory over Afghanistan with 11 balls remaining. England won the toss and decided to field first and they quickly had Afghanistan under pressure eventually restricting them to 112 all out just shy of their 20 overs. Sam Curran was the pick of England bowlers with 5 for 10 off his 3.4 overs.
England never had things all their own way on the batting front, but they did get up with almost 2 overs to spare and the runs were shared around with Liam Livingstone’s 29 not out off 21 balls seeing them home.
HEAD TO HEAD
The only T20 these sides have played finished in a no result.

Ireland 8/1
England 1/12
Suggested Bets:
Top Ireland bat, Paul Stirling at 2/1
Stirling has been a model of consistency of late and he impressed with his 34 runs at a strike rate of 136 at the top of the order against Sri Lanka. I am hoping he weathers the early English storm and that the Irish build the innings around him.
Top England Bat, Jos Buttler at 79/50
Buttler played a strangely subdued knock in his opening game scoring at just a run a ball for his 18. He is a devastating player when on song and I am expecting him to lead from the front in this game.
