Another marathon season of English Premier League football gets going on Friday night when Burnley host Champions, Manchester City. We suggest a bet in the game and look at some of the long-term English Premier League markets on offer.
BURNLEY v MANCHESTER CITY – Click here to bet
Burnley
Burnley were convincing winners of the Championship last season beating 2nd place Sheffield United by 10 points to book their spot in the Premier League. They had the best defence in the Division conceding just 35 goals in 46 matches and they only tasted defeat three times over the entire season.
Burnley have been in mixed form in pre-season friendlies, but their highlight was a 2-0 victory over Benfica, a game where they were priced at 11/2 to win the match.
Manchester City
Manchester City won the EPL Title by 5 points last season despite not winning either of their last two matches. They played in the Community Shield last weekend losing to Arsenal on penalties and in recent warm-ups lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid and beat Bayern Munich 2-1.
Head-to-Head
Manchester City have won their last 8 League matches against Burnley and in the 2021/22 season they won both fixtures 2-0.
I think Burnley will be capable of ruffling a few feathers this season although I won’t be opposing Manchester City in this game. A bet I will get my season going with is both teams to score currently available at 11/10.
Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 11/10

LONG TERM EPL MARKETS
Manchester City are currently trading as 8/11 to defend their English Premier League title with last season’s runners-up, Arsenal at 9/2. Liverpool are 15/2, you can get 10/1 Manchester United, 14/1 Chelsea, 16/1 Newcastle and 40/1 and better the balance.
There are plenty of other markets available to punters such as a Top 4 finish where Newcastle are trading at 15/10 and if you think Brighton can have another strong season they are on offer at 37/20 to finish in the Top 6.
Luton are the 1/3 favourites to get relegated with Sheffield United also short at 4/7 and Burnley who play their opening fixture are 33/10 to go straight back down to the Championship.
There is also match betting between teams and if you fancy Arsenal to beat Liverpool over the course of the season you can get them at 8/10 and a straight forecast of Manchester City, Arsenal finishing 1-2 is priced at 9/2.
There are also player goal match bets with Fernandes for example 13/20 to score more goals than De Bruyne over the season and of course we have the Top Goal Scorer market where Haaland is a short priced favourite at 5/8 after last season’s heroics.
Finally there are Total Points Markets for each team and to use Burnley as an example you can get 9/10 they get under 40 points, 15/10 over 42 points and 9/2 40-42 points exactly.
