The first of Sunday’s T20 World Cup Super 12 matches takes place in Brisbane and we take a look at this Group 2 clash from a betting angle.
BANGLADESH
Bangladesh won their opening cash of the Super 12 portion of the Tournament by 9 runs against the Netherlands. Batting first they scored a 144 for 8 before bowling the Netherlands out for a 135.
They went into the game against the Proteas as underdogs, but few would have expected them to take such a hammering. South Africa won the toss and decided to bat and were absolutely on fire throughout most of the innings. In the end Bangladesh would have felt quite happy to restrict them to 205 for 5 off their 20 overs and they certainly would have been feeling that they had a chance of victory. They got off to a cracking start, but then the wickets started to tumble and in the end they were bowled out for 101 in the 17th over.
From a bowling perspective Shakib Al Hasan delivered profits for those who backed him to be the Top Bangladesh Bowler at 2 for 33 in 2 overs and there was very little to report on the betting front other than Litton Das with his 34 off 31 balls.
ZIMBABWE
Zimbabwe’s opening game against South Africa ended up as a no result and they can count themselves quite fortunate as the Proteas were cruising to an easy victory. They faced what looked an almost impossible task against Pakistan in their 2nd match, starting 11/2 underdogs with the bookmakers. Having won the toss and decided to bat, they started off well, but a mid-innings collapse meant they had to scramble to reach 130 for 8 off their 20 overs. Shaun Williams was the pick of the batsmen with his 31 off 28 balls.
Pakistan got off to a sluggish start and Zimbabwe managed to keep the pressure on despite looking out of things at various stages including during the final over. They ended up restricting Pakistan to 129 for 8 though to win by a single run and there were some excellent performances by the bowlers including Sikander Raza with his 3 for 25 in his 4 overs and Brad Evans 2 for 25 off 4 overs.

Draw
Zimbabwe 13/10
Suggested Bet: Zimbabwe win at 13/10
That Zimbabwe performance against Pakistan would have given the team plenty of confidence and Bangladesh look like a side that is seriously low on that ingredient at the moment.
Suggested Bet: Zimbabwe Top Bowler, Sikander Raza at 59/20
He was absolutely superb against Pakistan and I see no reason why he can’t step up to the plate for his team again.
