The Austrian Moto GP takes place this weekend on Sunday the 20th of August. The race will be held at the Red Bull Ring and will no doubt be filled with drama. We take a look at the race from a betting perspective.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE AFTER SILVERSTONE
Francesco Bagnaia and Marco Bezzecchi, the leading contenders in the Championship before the race, initially set the pace in last Sunday’s MotoGP event at Silverstone. However, Bezzecchi’s day took an early end as he slid out of the race.
Bagnaia held the lead for the majority of the 20 laps, but Aleix Espargaro’s crucial attack on the final lap relegated him to second place, securing the victory for Espargaro.
Despite a challenging start, Jorge Martin staged an impressive comeback, finishing 6th and capitalizing on Bezzecchi’s misfortune. As a result, Martin and Bezzecchi exchanged positions in the overall standings and now sit 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Brad Binder’s podium finish added 17 points to his tally, allowing him to surpass Johann Zarco in the Championship rankings. Binder now stands in 4th place, with Zarco dropping to 5th.
Bagnaia (priced at 1/7) maintains his Championship lead as they head to Austria. He has a comfortable 41-point advantage over Martin (8/1), who holds a narrow 6-point lead over Bezzecchi (8/1).

AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX
Francesco Bagnaia will be looking for his second consecutive win at the Austrian GP after winning the race in 2022.
Jorge Martin, having won Fastest lap at the track last year, will be looking to put major pressure on Bagnaia in order to try gain some points for the Championship standings.
Team KTM look to be confident entering this event at their home track and they will be backing team member, Brad Binder, to try and take the victory having won in Austria just 2 years ago.

VERDICT
Bagnaia has achieved top-two finishes in 6 out of the 9 races this season. Throughout the championship, he has secured an impressive 7 top-three Sprint Race placements and as the upcoming race at the Red Bull Ring approaches, Bagnaia stands as the clear betting favourite.
Bezzecchi had an unfortunate Sunday last time around, but he will be expected to turn things around and perform well at the Red Bull Ring. He has 2 race victories this season and he has been consistent with all the races he has finished (8 of 10), ending with him in the top 8. His previous form sets him up as the potential dark horse contender for the win this weekend.
Brad Binder will also be seen as a contender for the race win after a podium finish last week. Team KTM have the home ground advantage which will certainly give Binder a lot of confidence leading up to the race.
Although the race promises to be full of action, my pick for this weekend will be Bagnaia to win the Austrian Moto GP for the second year in a row, with Binder and Bezzecchi claiming podium positions.
Suggested Bet: Bagnaia win at 13/10
