Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will clash on May 18, 2024, at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Billed as the biggest heavyweight fight in years this bout will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000. Fury, the WBC and Lineal champion, faces Usyk, the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring champion.
TYSON FURY
35 year old Tyson Fury is a British professional boxer who has held the WBC heavyweight title since defeating Deontay Wilder in February 2020. The pair had previously fought to a controversial draw in 2018.
Fury faced Wilder for a third time in October 2021 and despite being knocked down twice, Fury secured an eleventh-round knockout, solidifying his dominance in their trilogy). Fury then defended his title against Dillian Whyte in April 2022, winning by TKO in the sixth round.
Fury’s most recent bout was against Derek Chisora in December 2022, where he won by a tenth-round TKO, continuing his unbeaten streak and setting the stage for a unification fight against Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury whose nickname is the “Gypsy King” has fought 35 times with 34 victories and 1 draw.

OLEKSANDR USYK
37 year old Oleksandr Usyk is a Ukrainian professional boxer who dominated the cruiserweight division before stepping up to heavyweight in 2019. After a successful debut against Chazz Witherspoon, he faced Derek Chisora in 2020, securing a unanimous decision victory.
His most significant heavyweight achievement came in 2021 when he challenged Anthony Joshua for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. Usyk outclassed Joshua with a masterful display of skill and movement, winning by unanimous decision and becoming the unified heavyweight champion.
In 2022, Usyk successfully defended his titles in a rematch against Joshua, once again winning by split decision.
Usyk nicknamed “The Cat” is a gifted and technical fighter and he has won all 21 of his fights, 14 by KO.
He starts as a slight underdog with the bookies against a man with a weight, height and reach advantage.

Verdict
This is a fight I am really looking forward to. I have become a huge Fury fan over the years but I think he is going to have his hands full against a technically gifted fighter like Usyk.
Both men will be in great shape (Fury has really slimmed down) but after some deliberation, I am going to back the Ukrainian to wear his opponent down to win by decision.
