The Paris Olympic Games gets going officially on Friday 26 July, although qualification in some of the events has already begun. In this article we take a look at the betting on some of the Marquis Events.
BASKETBALL – Click here to bet
Anything other than a win for the USA in the Women’s Basketball would be a massive upset. They are short as 1/14 for the victory. The Men’s Basketball betting is not dissimilar but with the USA 1/6 for the win ahead of Canada at 9/1.

We touched on this in our preview of South Africa medal hopefuls and in the men’s section action gets going on Wednesday and France are the 21/10 favourites ahead of Argentina 3/1 and New Zealand at 16/5. In the women’s tournament, New Zealand are the 9/10 favourites.

ATHLETICS
For me the real highlight of the Olympics is the Athletics and you can click here for betting on the men’s races.
Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei is the 15/10 favourite for the men’s 10000 metres, but it is the 100 metres that is generally the most anticipated event, here Kishane Thompson is the 12/10 favourite ahead of Noah Lyles at 37/20 with Oblique Seville trading at 8/1. Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo comes in at 14/1 and South Africa’s Akani Simbine is 25/1.
Matthew Hudson-Smith is the 5/4 favourite to win the men’s 400 metres and Noah Lyles is the 2/7 favourite to win the 200 metres with Letsile Tebogo priced at 7/1, 3rd favourite.
The USA are 7/20 to win the men’s 4 x 100 metres relay and Rai Benjamin is the 11/10 favourite to win the 400 metres hurdles with Karsten Warholm the closest 2nd in the betting at 14/10.
Djamel Sedjati is the 6/10 favourite to take down the 800 metres Gold.

Shacarri Richardson is the 40/85 favourite to win the women’s 100 metres ahead of Shericka Jackson at 7/2 and veteran, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a 9/1 shot for Gold. Faith Kipyegon Chepngetich is the 7/20 favourite for the 5000 metres with Keely Hodgkinson a 1/3 favourite in the 800 metres.
Gabrielle Thomas is 12/10 to win the 200 metres with Shericka Jackson as second favourite at 39/20. Beatrice Chebet is 7/20 to win the women’s 10000 metres.
One of the most competitive events in the women’s athletics looks to be the 100 metre hurdles where Cyrena Samba Mayela is 12/5, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is 5/2 and Masai Russell is 9/2 to grab glory.

CYCLING
Having just come out of the hectic Tour de France many of the riders will throw themselves straight back in to the cycling.

Mathieu Van Der Poel is the 15/10 favourite for the men’s road race and Joshua Tarling is the 8/11 favourite for the men’s Time Trial. While Lotte Kopecky heads the betting in the women’s road race at 7/4 ahead of veteran, Marianne Vos who is 7/2 along with Lorena Wiebes at 11/2 in what looks a competitive race. Chloe Dygert is the 4/6 favourite to take out the time trial.
