The 2024 Olympic Games continues on Wednesday the 31st July and we take a look at some of the main events from a betting angle.

TRIATHLON
Cassandre Beaugrand is the 7/4 joint favourite with Beth Potter to win the Women’s Triathlon.
The Men’s Triathlon was due to take place on Tuesday the 30th July, but was postponed due to pollution levels of the water.
All going well the Men’s race will take place after the ladies and and it looks likely to be a battle when Alex Yee (12/10) from Britain and New Zealanders Hayden Wilde (3/1)
The way the course is set up should suit the pair who finished in 2nd and 3rd in Tokyo but they won’t have things their own way and I expect big runs from the French trio of Le Corre (9/1), Coninx and Bergere both priced at 12/1. Defending champ Blummenfelt would like a tougher cycling leg but at 8/1 has a chance to defend.
I am going to stick with my 20/1 pick Hauser to win which was put up when the race was still scheduled for Tuesday.

DIVING
China are massive favourites to win the Women’s Synchronized 10m Platform and they are trading at 1/33 ahead of North Korea at 14/1. Unless you fancy a massive upset it is going to be hard to find a betting angle on this one.
HOCKEY
The Women’s tournament Pool matches continue starting at 10 o’clock on Wednesday morning with the Men’s matches resuming at 17h30.
The South African Women take on Great Britain where they are priced as 37/20 for the victory with the draw 16/5 and Great Britain 21/20

Spain take on the South African Men and are firm favourites at 37/100 with the draw 5/1 and South Africa priced as 9/2 underdogs.

SWIMMING
There is another busy night of finals on Wednesday including the Women’s 100m Freestyle, Men’s 200m Butterfly, the Women’s 1500m Freestyle, the Men’s 200m Breaststroke and Men’s 100m Freestyle.
The semi-finals for many of the events have only just taken place and I expect betting to come up overnight.
In the Women’s 100m Freestyle I was impressed with Haughey who came from 4th at the 50 to win her heat. Depending on her price she will be a direct bet or one for the multiples.
The Men’s 200m Butterfly looks a match race between defending Champions Malik from Hungary and Marchand from France. Malik should start a short priced favourite and it should be great to watch the pair fight it out.
I am also looking forward to the Men’s 200m Breaststroke where I expect Merchant to start favourite but expect a great race with the fast finishing Aussie Zac Stubblety-Cook.
In the Men’s 100m Freestyle I was impressed with Zhanle Pan who got fastest time in the heats despite being in an outside lane.
I will update this diary with bets in the morning when we have some odds.

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz continue their march towards the final and they are both short-priced favourites in their matches on Wednesday and the Women’s tournament also continues on Wednesday as we approach the medal matches.
