The Olympics proper gets going on Saturday 27 July and we cast our eye over the various sporting events taking place and single out some highlights.
There are far too many sporting events to cover in 1 article but keep an eye on the Olympics Landing Page
HOCKEY
The South African mens hockey team are in action against the Netherlands and a look at the betting shows they have it all to do.
The Netherlands are 1/60 with the draw 18/1 and South Africa 22/1 and the Total Goals line is 5.5.

CYCLING
The Women’s Individual Time Trial takes place on a flat 32.4km route. It looks like we will have wet conditions but hopefully with the riders all starting within an hour of each other conditions won’t be the deciding factor.
Chloe Dygert is the 4/6 favourite but I think that 2nd favourite Ellen Van Dijk (5/2) can push her all the way. Dygert’s has had injuries but says she is fully fit however the specialist Van Dijk is my pick at the prices.
Bet: Van Dijk win at 5/2 – click here to bet
The Men’s ITT takes place over the identical route and Brit Joshua Tarling is the firm favourite at 8/11. The 20 year old is a prodigious talent but he will be pushed by Remco Evenepoel (3/1) fresh off his 3rd place in the Tour de France and giant engine Filippo Ganna (5/2) who has prepared specifically for this event.
My money is on the powerful Italian.
Bet: Ganna win at 5/1 – click here to bet
