In our final Olympic Betting Diary of the 2024 Paris Olympics we take a look at a couple of remaining events including the Women’s Marathon where South Africa just might have a medal shout.

ATHLETICS
The Women’s Marathon is the final Athletic event and it gets going at 08h00 on Sunday morning.
The ladies will run the same route as the men and it is one of the more brutal routes we have seen at a Major Championship.
This is potentially good news for South Africa’s Comrades Marathon and 2 Oceans Champion Gerda Steyn who is 33/1 for Gold.
Steyn doesn’t have the outright speed of some of her rivals but if she is on her game she can benefit from the tough route which may deaden the legs of some of the faster runners.
That is not to say Steyn is slow over 42.2km and her fastest time of 2:24:03 set at the Valencia Marathon is a National record.
She was also 15th at the Tokyo Olympics on a course less suited to her abilities.
Sifan Hassan who has bronze medalled in the 10000m and 5000m in this Olympics is the 2/1 favourite for Gold with Hellen Obiri her market rival at 9/4 and Peres Jepchirchir a 4/1 shot.
There is also Top 3 (Medal) betting and Steyn is trading at a tempting 11/2.

Hosts France take on the USA in the Women’s Gold Medal match but it is unlikely that the home team will be celebrating as they are 9/1 to win Gold with their opponents 1/20. France are +15.5 on the handicap and total goals (hoops) is set at 155.5.

The last 3 matches in the Men’s Tournament take place on Sunday and Serbia and Croatia meet in the Gold medal Match.
