Group C of the 2022 World Cup gets going on Tuesday and we take a look at the matches featuring Argentina against Saudi Arabia and Mexico against Poland suggesting a bet in each.
Let’s start with a look at the Group C betting where Argentina are trading as 37/100 favourites to win the Group with Poland 9/2, Mexico 5/1 and Saudi Arabia the rank outsiders at 22/1.

ARGENTINA v SAUDI ARABIA
ARGENTINA
Argentina were undefeated in their South American qualifying group, but finished behind Brazil having drawn more games. They are a team in excellent form and are on a 35 match unbeaten streak and in a warm-up match for the World Cup they hammered the United Arab Emirates 5-0.
Argentina were knocked out in the last 16 stage of the 2018 World Cup. The last time they had their hands on the trophy was in 1986.
SAUDI ARABIA
Saudi Arabia topped their qualification group, but will be looking to go one better than 2018 when they failed to make it out of the group stages. They have shown consistent form in recent months and have been quite active to the build-up of the Tournament. Their last friendly International was a 1-0 defeat to Croatia and in the last 3 months all 8 games they have played have had 2 goals or less in them.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides played out a goalless draw in a friendly International in 2012 and prior to that Argentina beat Saudi Arabia 3-1 way back in 1992.

Argentina 1/6
Draw 13/2
Saudi Arabia 20/1
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Argentina -2.5 goals at 11/8
I can’t see anything but a comfortable Argentina victory here against a Saudi Arabia side that are unlikely to trouble them too much in defence.

MEXICO v POLAND
MEXICO
Mexico qualified as runners-up to Canada in their group and they are a well-known side at World Cup Finals, but haven’t got the best of records. They have been a bit inconsistent in their friendly Internationals, beating Iraq 4-0 earlier this month, but then 5 days later going down 2-1 to Sweden.
POLAND
Poland were runners-up to England in their qualification group and that put them in the playoffs where they ended up beating Sweden 2-0 to claim their spot in the finals. They failed to make it out of the group stages in 2018 and were also disappointing in last year’s EURO Championships. Poland beat Chile 1-0 in a warm-up fixture last week.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These sides last met in a friendly International in 2017 with Mexico winning 1-0.

Mexico 18/10
Draw 2/1
Poland 37/20
Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1
You would expect the second place finish in this group to be one of these two sides and I think both of them will play the game with the knowledge that a loss might be the end of their Tournament hopes.
