The PGA Tour remains in Mexico for a second consecutive week as the World Wide Technology Championship gets underway at El Cardonal in Cabo San Lucas, with the tournament running from 5 to 8 November.
Ben Griffin is the defending champion after winning at 29-under par last year, and he is one of three players priced at 15.00 at the top of the market, alongside Ryan Gerard and Ben James.
The tournament forms part of the FedExCup Fall, with players looking to secure their PGA Tour playing rights for 2027. With just a few events remaining in the season, there is plenty at stake for those further down the standings.
We have four selections this week, including two of the market leaders, an in-form player at a bigger price and a former champion at 61.00.
The Course
El Cardonal is a par 72 measuring approximately 7,452 yards (6,814 metres) and was the first completed course designed by Tiger Woods through his TGR Design company.
Opened in 2014, the course is situated at the Diamante resort in Cabo San Lucas, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It occupies elevated terrain, with dune-framed fairways on the front nine and desert arroyos coming into play on the back nine.
The fairways are generous, and the greens are large and undulating, with strategically positioned bunkers presenting the main challenge. While length off the tee is certainly an advantage, the wide landing areas mean accuracy is not quite as important as it is at some other PGA Tour venues.
El Cardonal first hosted the World Wide Technology Championship in 2023, when South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen claimed the title at 27-under par. Austin Eckroat followed with a winning score of 24-under in 2024, before Ben Griffin set a tournament scoring record of 29-under last year.
Those results tell us that this is a course where players need to make plenty of birdies. All three winners at El Cardonal have finished at least 24-under, and with four par fives offering good scoring opportunities, we can expect another low-scoring tournament.
From a betting perspective, I favour players who are striking their irons well, making plenty of birdies and putting confidently. Course experience is also worth considering, particularly when looking for value further down the betting.

Betting
Ben Griffin, Ryan Gerard and Ben James are all priced at 15.00 at the top of the market, with Jackson Koivun next at 17.00, followed by Blades Brown at 26.00 and Jordan Smith at 31.00.
With nothing separating the three favourites in the betting, this looks an open tournament despite the relatively short prices at the head of the market.
We have gone with two of the favourites, Griffin and James, alongside Steven Fisk at 46.00 and former champion Austin Eckroat at 61.00.
Our first three selections all played at the Mexico Open last week, with Griffin finishing fourth, Fisk runner-up and James 16th. That gives us three players arriving with competitive rounds under their belts and some encouraging recent form.

Selections
Ben Griffin at 15.00
Our first selection is defending champion Ben Griffin, who returns to El Cardonal after winning this tournament in impressive fashion last year.
Griffin finished at 29-under par, two strokes clear of the field, producing a superb final-round 63 to claim the title. That performance set a new tournament scoring record and demonstrated just how well his game suits this layout.
His recent form is also encouraging. Griffin finished fourth at last week’s VidantaWorld Mexico Open, showing that his game remains in good shape as he heads back to a course where he has already enjoyed considerable success.
The generous fairways should allow him to attack off the tee, while his ability to make birdies in bunches is particularly important at a venue where the winning score is likely to be well into the 20s under par.
At 15.00, he is one of the market leaders, but with course form and recent performances both in his favour, I think he is worth backing to mount a strong title defence.
Suggested bet: Ben Griffin each way at 15.00.
Steven Fisk at 46.00
Steven Fisk is our first outsider this week, and he arrives in Mexico on the back of some encouraging results.
Fisk finished runner-up at last week’s VidantaWorld Mexico Open, continuing a good run of form that also included seventh place at the Black Desert Championship in October.
Those results give him two top-10 finishes in his last three starts and suggest that his game is heading in the right direction.
El Cardonal is a course where players need to attack and make plenty of birdies, and Fisk has shown in recent weeks that he is capable of producing the low scoring required to contend.
There is always some uncertainty about backing a player immediately after a runner-up finish, but I prefer to focus on the confidence he should take from that performance.
At 46.00, he offers an attractive each-way price in a tournament where the three favourites are all trading at 15.00.
Suggested bet: Steven Fisk each way at 46.00.
Ben James at 15.00
Ben James is also one of the favourites this week, and his recent performances suggest that he deserves his position near the head of the market.
James finished 16th at last week’s Mexico Open, having previously recorded fifth place at the Black Desert Championship, runner-up at the Biltmore Championship and third at the Wyndham Championship.
That is an impressive sequence of results, particularly for a player still establishing himself at this level.
His consistency has been a feature of his recent performances, and he has repeatedly shown that he is capable of getting into contention against strong fields.
The challenge this week will be turning those good finishes into a victory, but El Cardonal should offer him plenty of opportunities to attack and make birdies.
At 15.00, he is priced alongside Griffin and Gerard, but I think his recent run of results justifies another each-way bet.
Suggested bet: Ben James each way at 15.00.
Austin Eckroat at 61.00
Our final selection is former champion Austin Eckroat, who looks an interesting outsider at 61.00.
Eckroat won this tournament in 2024, finishing at 24-under par after a superb final-round 63. He started that final round three strokes behind the leader but produced nine birdies to claim his second PGA Tour title.
That performance is particularly relevant this week, as it demonstrated his ability to go low at El Cardonal and handle the pressure of contending for a tournament victory.
His course record is not entirely convincing outside that victory. He finished 38th in 2023 and struggled in his title defence last year, finishing 59th.
However, there is no questioning his ability to produce a winning performance on this layout, and that makes him worth considering at a significantly bigger price than many of the market leaders.
Eckroat will need to rediscover the form that carried him to victory here two years ago, but at 61.00 I think his proven course form makes him worth a speculative each-way bet.
Suggested bet: Austin Eckroat each way at 61.00.
