The UEFA Champions League returns on Tuesday night, and we take a closer look at two matches featuring English Premier League clubs.
Champions League Outright Betting Update
Barcelona are the 5.00 favourites to win the UEFA Champions League, followed by Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Bayern Munich at 6.50.

Arsenal v Lille
Arsenal are currently 15th in the Champions League standings after opening their campaign with a 1-0 away victory over Napoli.
The Gunners had to remain patient before scoring the decisive goal in the 75th minute.
Arsenal’s most recent action came in the Premier League, where they bounced back from a 3-0 away defeat to Brighton by beating Leeds United 2-1 at home.
Lille occupy 22nd position following a 3-2 home defeat to Real Betis in their opening Champions League fixture.
They started well and led 2-1 at halftime, but conceded twice shortly after the break and could not recover.
Lille’s most recent league match was at the beginning of October, when they recorded a 1-0 home victory over Le Havre.

Verdict
Arsenal should be far too strong for Lille at home, and I am expecting a clinical and disciplined performance from the Gunners.
The outright price offers little value, so my interest is in the handicap market. Arsenal possess enough attacking quality to take control of the contest and pull clear as the match progresses.

Atletico Madrid v Manchester United
This is one of Tuesday night’s most intriguing fixtures, with two of European football’s biggest clubs meeting early in the competition.
Atletico Madrid made a disappointing start to their Champions League campaign, losing 2-1 away to Liverpool. That result leaves them 26th in the standings.
Atletico took the lead in the 17th minute but conceded either side of halftime as Liverpool turned the match around.
Their domestic form has been far more encouraging. Atletico have won four consecutive league matches, most recently beating Alaves 2-1 on the road.
Manchester United are fourth in the Champions League standings following an emphatic 4-0 victory over Saba Baku in their opening match. United led 3-0 at halftime and had the points secured well before the final whistle.
They have struggled for consistency since that victory, however, and are without a win in their last four matches. Their two most recent league fixtures ended in 1-1 draws away to Fulham and at home to Tottenham.
Head-to-Head
The sides last met in a friendly earlier this year, with Manchester United winning 2-1.
Their most recent competitive meetings came in the 2021/22 Champions League. This fixture ended in a 1-1 draw before Atletico Madrid won the return encounter 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Verdict
This should be a tight but entertaining encounter. Atletico arrive on a four-match winning run, while Manchester United have been inconsistent and are without a victory in four matches.
Home advantage and Atletico’s stronger recent form give them the edge, and even money looks a fair price for the Spanish side to collect all three points.
