Omega European Masters 2026 Betting Preview

OMEHA EUROPEAN MASTERS

The DP World Tour rolls on this week with one of the truly iconic events on the schedule, the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in the Swiss Alps. This is a genuinely unique week of golf, with the altitude of the venue and the stunning mountain layout both playing a huge role in how the tournament unfolds.

Ryan Gerard heads the market this week, with Matt Wallace and defending champion Thriston Lawrence from South Africa both very much in the picture. It should be an entertaining four days in Crans-Montana as we continue to build towards the business end of the Race to Dubai standings.

Course

Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club is one of the most spectacular and unique venues on the DP World Tour. Set in the Swiss Alps at just over 1,500 metres above sea level, the course sits at high altitude, which means the ball flies significantly further through the thin air. Players regularly find themselves needing several clubs less into the greens than they would at sea level, and adjusting their yardages is one of the biggest challenges of the week. Winning scores here tend to sit around the -18 to -22 mark, so the leaderboard almost always ends up firmly in double figures under par come Sunday afternoon.

Course knowledge and comfort with the altitude are two of the biggest factors this week. As we can see from the past winners list, players who have won here tend to keep coming back and contending again, with Thriston Lawrence being a great recent example after two wins in four years. Precision iron play is critical given the elevation changes and how much the ball flies, and a hot putter tends to be needed to get to the low scores required to lift the trophy. Players who have a real feel for the venue almost always have an edge.

Past Winners

2025     Thriston Lawrence (South Africa)           -22                         2 strokes

2024     Matt Wallace (England)                          -11                         Playoff

2023     Ludvig Aberg (Sweden)                          -19                         2 strokes

2022     Thriston Lawrence (South Africa)           -18                         Playoff

2021     Rasmus Hojgaard (Denmark)                 -13                         1 stroke

Ryan Gerard heads the market at 13.00 as the class name in the field this week. Matt Wallace is next in, at 15.00, followed by Rasmus Hojgaard at 19.00 and Marco Penge at 21.00. Rasmus’s brother Nicolai Hojgaard is next in at 23.00, with Patrick Reed rounding out the top of the boards at 26.00. There is plenty of quality throughout the top of the market, and no shortage of value to be found across the each-way selections.

SELECTIONS:

Matt Wallace at 15.00

Not only is Wallace coming into this week off the back of some solid form, but he also has a genuinely impressive record at the European Masters over the last few years. In his last four starts here he has won the tournament once and finished runner-up twice. His win came in 2024, while the two runner-ups came in 2025 and 2023. Wallace is coming into this week off the back of a 5th place, 7th place and 15th-place finish all in his last three starts. If he can carry that current form into a course he clearly loves, we think we could see another strong performance from him at 15.00.

Suggested bet: Matt Wallace each way at 15.00.

Marco Penge at 21.00

After a tough first season on the PGA Tour, Penge returned to the tail end of the DP World Tour season last week when he played the British Masters, and he already put in a solid result finishing in 6th place. Penge had earned his place on the PGA Tour after a brilliant DP World Tour season last year, and this was the exact time of year we saw him excel. He finished 8th at last year’s tournament here. We think we could see him find some real form again as he returns to more familiar territory this week.

Suggested bet: Marco Penge each way at 21.00.

Thriston Lawrence at 67.00

Lawrence is our outside shot of the week, but there is a very good reason for that. Some courses just suit some players, either it suits their eye off the tee and they feel confident, or they can read the greens easier than the rest of the field. Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club is very much one of those courses for Lawrence. He has managed to win this tournament twice in the space of four years, which is a truly extraordinary record at any venue on the DP World Tour. The first win came in 2022, when he shot -18 to get into a playoff and beat Matt Wallace. Last year he put on an even more dominant performance, shooting -22 to win by two shots. Given his obvious love for this course, we like him as a bigger-price each-way outside pick at 67.00.

Suggested bet: Thriston Lawrence each way at 67.00.
