Mamelodi Sundowns currently sit 7th on the Premiership table with 4 points from their opening two matches. They began their campaign with an impressive 3-2 away victory over TS Galaxy, showing their attacking quality to come from behind and claim all three points with a match winner 4 minutes into injury time.
They followed that result up with a 1-1 draw away to Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday. Sundowns let the first goal slip early into the second-half, but they dug deep to equalise with 15 minutes to play to remain unbeaten.
Marumo Gallants are 14th on the log holding only a singular point after two matches played. They started their 2026/27 run with a goalless draw at home against Kruger United, producing a disciplined defensive display but struggling to create enough chances to get the win.
Gallants then suffered their first defeat of the season on Friday when they travelled to Stellenbosch. They were under the pump from the get-go which resulted in the side conceding 3 goals before making their reply in the last few minutes of the game.
Head-to-Head:
The recent meetings between these sides have been dominated by Mamelodi Sundowns. Sundowns have won 4 of the last 6 encounters, while 1 of the fixtures ended level and the remainder resulted in a triumph for Gallants.
The most recent league meeting ended in a 3-1 victory for Sundowns at home in March 2026. The sides also met in the Carling Knockout earlier in the 2025/26 campaign, when Gallants produced a surprise 1-0 victory.

Odds: Mamelodi Sundowns 1.29 | Draw 6.25 | Marumo Gallants 12.00
Verdict:
Sundowns have made an unbeaten start to their title defence and should be confident in extending that run when they welcome Marumo Gallants to Loftus Versfeld. The Champions have already scored four goals in their opening two league matches, while Gallants have conceded three goals in their first two outings and were comfortably beaten by Stellenbosch.
With home advantage and a significant difference in attacking quality, Sundowns look well placed to claim another three points and I am backing them to win and continue their unbeaten start to the campaign without much trouble here.
