Tour de France Stage 10 Betting Preview

Stage 10 of the 2026 Tour de France takes the riders from Aurillac to Le Lioran over 166.6 kilometres. With seven classified climbs, including two Category 1 ascents, this is another demanding day in the mountains and one which could once again be won either by an elite breakaway or one of the general classification contenders.

Stage 9 Review

Stage 9 was shortened due to the extreme heat, but there was still plenty of action.

As expected, the stage was won by the breakaway, with Mathieu van der Poel proving strongest to claim a superb victory. Tobias Johannessen finished second, while Tom Pidcock rounded out the podium.

The race, however, unfolded rather differently to what many expected.

Instead of allowing the breakaway to build a sizeable advantage, UAE Team Emirates XRG kept the move on a surprisingly short leash, with the gap generally sitting between one minute and a minute and a half throughout the stage. At first glance, it appeared puzzling, as Tadej Pogačar had little to gain by chasing.

The explanation only emerged afterwards. UAE are now targeting the Team Classification and did not want Lidl-Trek to extend their already healthy advantage in that competition.

Despite the aggressive racing, there were no changes to the overall standings.

Tadej Pogačar continues to lead the Tour by 2 minutes and 42 seconds from Jonas Vingegaard, with Isaac del Toro remaining third at 3 minutes and 27 seconds and Remco Evenepoel fourth at 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

The outright betting now reads:

  • Tadej Pogačar – 1.05
  • Jonas Vingegaard – 12.00
  • Isaac del Toro – 29.00
  • Remco Evenepoel – 81.00
  • Paul Seixas – 81.00
  • Florian Lipowitz – 81.00

The Green Jersey standings are as follows with Pedersen extending his lead:

  • Mads Pedersen – 268 points
  • Biniam Girmay – 223 points
  • Tim Merlier – 213 points

Pedersen leads Girmay by 45 points, with Merlier a further 10 points back in third.

The latest Green Jersey betting is:

  • Mads Pedersen – 1.67
  • Biniam Girmay – 4.00
  • Tim Merlier – 4.00

The King of the Mountains standings remain unchanged:

  • Tadej Pogačar – 28 points
  • Jonas Vingegaard – 19 points
  • Lenny Martinez – 16 points

The latest King of the Mountains betting is:

  • Tadej Pogačar – 1.57
  • Lenny Martinez – 6.00
  • Richard Carapaz – 7.00
  • Tom Pidcock – 10.00
  • Valentin Paret-Peintre – 13.00
  • Jonas Vingegaard – 13.00

The Team Classification also remains unchanged following Stage 9. Lidl-Trek continue to lead UAE Team Emirates XRG by 27 minutes and 8 seconds, with Team Visma | Lease a Bike a further 9 minutes and 14 seconds behind in third.

The latest Team Classification betting is:

  • UAE Team Emirates XRG – 1.83
  • Lidl-Trek – 2.00
  • Team Visma | Lease a Bike – 17.00

Stage 10 Profile

Stage 10 packs a remarkable amount of climbing into just 166.6 kilometres.

The riders face the intermediate sprint after only 25.5 kilometres, before the climbing begins in earnest.

The first classified ascent is the Category 3 Côte de Pailherols, measuring 3.0 kilometres at 7.2%, before the tougher Category 2 Col de la Griffoul, which rises for 5.9 kilometres at 6.7%.

Next comes the Category 3 Col de Prat de Bouc before another rolling section leads into the decisive final hour of racing.

The riders then tackle the Category 3 Côte de Murat, followed immediately by the toughest climb of the day, the Category 1 Puy Mary Pas de Peyrol, an ascent of 7.8 kilometres at 6.0%.

After a fast descent there is little respite, with the Category 1 Col de Pertus climbing 4.4 kilometres at a testing 8.5%, before a final Category 3 climb to the finish at Le Lioran.

There is very little flat road throughout the stage, making it another relentless day of climbing and descending.

What to Expect?

A lot is going to depend on UAE Team Emirates XRG’s approach.

If they are once again intent on protecting their position in the Team Classification, we could see them keeping the breakaway on a relatively short leash. Equally, having shown their intentions on Stage 9, they may instead look to place one or two strong domestiques into the break, allowing them to challenge for the stage without needing to chase all day.

This is certainly a stage that Pogačar could win if he chooses to.

The repeated climbs suit his explosive style, and if UAE decide to ride aggressively he will once again be very difficult to beat.

However, given the terrain and the opportunities it presents to strong climbers and puncheurs, I’ll once again be looking further down the betting lists for value rather than taking the short-priced favourite.

Tadej Pogačar – 1.61

Isaac del Toro – 11.00

Richard Carapaz – 12.00

Jonas Vingegaard – 19.00

Tobias Halland Johannessen – 19.00

Remco Evenepoel – 26.00

Tom Pidcock – 29.00

Verdict

This stage has all the ingredients for another fascinating tactical battle.

While Tadej Pogačar is undoubtedly the man to beat, I think the uncertainty surrounding UAE’s tactics creates opportunities elsewhere in the market. Whether UAE commit to controlling the race or allow a strong breakaway to contest the stage will ultimately determine where the winner comes from.

Romain Gregoire impressed me earlier in the tour and I am going to back him to win from the breakaway at a big price.
