The FIFA World Cup quarterfinals get underway on Thursday as two in form nations battle for a place in the final four. France continue their pursuit of another World Cup title after progressing through the knockout rounds with confidence while Morocco have continued their remarkable form with another series of disciplined performances. We look at the match from a betting front below.
France vs Morocco
France have once again underlined why they are considered one of the tournament favourites after cruising through the group stage before recording back to back knockout victories. They opened their campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Senegal before comfortably defeating Iraq 3-0. A dominant 4-1 win over Norway ensured France finished top of their group with a perfect record and maximum points.
Their Round of 32 clash against Sweden proved to be another professional display. France controlled proceedings throughout and secured a comfortable 3-0 victory to advance to the Round of 16.
France were made to work much harder in the Round of 16 against Paraguay. After a goalless first half, the breakthrough finally arrived in the 70th minute when Kylian Mbappe struck from the penalty spot. France remained composed defensively thereafter to conclude a respectable 1-0 victory and book their place in the quarterfinals.

Morocco have continued to build on their impressive World Cup reputation after finishing unbeaten in the group stage before producing two outstanding knockout performances. They opened with an excellent 1-1 draw against Brazil before edging Scotland 1-0 thanks to another disciplined defensive display. A 4-2 victory over Haiti secured second spot in the group as Morocco progressed unbeaten.
Their Round of 32 meeting with the Netherlands saw Morocco produce one of the surprises of the tournament. They claimed an impressive 2-1 victory over the Dutch to reach the last 16 and continue their outstanding World Cup campaign.
Morocco carried that momentum into the Round of 16 with another superb performance against Canada. After a goalless opening half, Azzedine Ounahi broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart before doubling both his tally and Morocco’s advantage in the 82nd minute. Soufiane Rahimi added a third goal deep into stoppage time to complete an emphatic 3-0 victory and send Morocco through to the quarterfinals in style.
Head-to-Head
France remain unbeaten in the previous five meetings between the nations, recording three victories and two draws. Their most recent encounter came in the 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinal where France secured a 2-0 victory over Morocco.

Verdict
France have looked every bit the title contenders throughout the tournament, winning all five matches while conceding just two goals. Morocco, however, continue to defy expectations and have combined defensive discipline with growing attacking confidence, eliminating both the Netherlands and Canada in impressive fashion. With both sides carrying solid form into this clash as well as the fact that France were restricted in Paraguay, I believe this will be an extremely close match which could go to extra time or even penalties.
