We look at the Europa League final taking place on Wednesday night at the Tüpraş Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, between SC Freiburg and Aston Villa from a betting angle.
SC Freiburg
SC Freiburg booked their spot in the final with a 4-3 aggregate win over Braga. They lost the first leg of their semi-final 2-1 on the road before storming back to win 3-1 at home and clinch a place in the final.
They had previously seen off Celta Vigo 6-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals and Genk 5-2 on aggregate in the round of 16.
Their domestic form has also been strong and they are coming off a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa also had to come from behind in their semi-final after losing 1-0 away to fellow English Premier League side Nottingham Forest. They responded in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 home victory to advance 4-1 on aggregate.
In the quarter-finals Villa beat Bologna comfortably, winning 7-1 on aggregate, while in the round of 16 they were professional in a 3-0 aggregate victory over Lille.
Aston Villa are coming off an impressive 4-2 home win over Liverpool in the English Premier League and are unbeaten in their last three matches across all competitions.
