South Africa and Panama played out a 1-1 draw in their first International friendly in Durban on Friday the 27th of March in what was a fairly balanced and competitive encounter.
South Africa started the match well and created several attacking opportunities, using their pace in wide areas and quick transitions to put Panama under pressure. Panama, however, remained organised defensively and gradually grew into the match, creating chances of their own, particularly through counterattacks and set pieces which led to them finding the back of the net in the 23rd minute.
This led to the pressure being put onto Bafana Bafana who gathered themselves during the half-time break and came back firing to level things through Oswin Appollis just a few minutes into the second half.
Thereafter, neither team was able to capitalize on any opportunities to score and win the meeting and overall, the draw was probably a fair result based on the balance of play, with neither side able to fully dominate the match.

Verdict
The first match between these sides showed there is very little between the teams and this second friendly could follow a similar pattern. International friendlies often see squad rotation and a slightly more open style of play but given how evenly matched these teams looked in the first game, another tight encounter is expected.
With both teams capable of scoring but neither clearly stronger than the other, the draw again looks a strong possibility yet again.
