SATURDAY:
BARCELONA vs VILLARREAL
Barcelona currently occupy 1st place on the standings with 61 points from 25 matches. They have been in excellent recent form, winning four of their last five league fixtures, including commanding 3-0 victories over Levante, Mallorca and Real Oviedo.
Their only recent setback came in a 2-1 away defeat to Girona two weeks back but overall, they have been dominant in attack, scoring 67 goals this season while conceding just 25.
Villarreal sit 3rd on the table with 51 points, and they are gunning for Champions League promotion. They have won three of their last five fixtures, including impressive 2-1 and 1-0 victories over Valencia and Levante, while also beating Espanyol 4-1 at home four games ago.
Although they have performed well, they have shown vulnerability defensively at times, conceding 27 goals this campaign and this was reflected in their 2-1 loss to Getafe on the 9th of February.
Head-to-Head
Earlier this season Barcelona secured a 2-0 away victory, although last term saw Villarreal claim a dramatic 3-2 win in this fixture to bounce back from a heavy 5-1 defeat at home in the first leg.

Barcelona 1.31
Draw 6.50
Villarreal 8.00
Verdict
With Barcelona boasting the league’s most potent attack and playing at home, they will be confident of asserting control. Villarreal’s attacking quality suggests this won’t be straightforward, but I believe the hosts firepower should ultimately swing things in their favour.

REAL OVIEDO vs ATLETICO MADRID
Real Oviedo sit bottom of the standings in 20th place on only 17 points from 24 matches. They have struggled defensively throughout the season, letting 39 shots past their defensive line while scoring just 16 at the front.
Despite this, they have shown glimpses of resilience recently including a 3-3 draw away to Real Sociedad and a narrow 1-0 win over Girona at home. Nevertheless, their season has been plagued by losses and in their last five trips to the pitch they have settled for three defeats.
Atletico Madrid are 4th on the table with 48 points and remain firmly in contention for a top three finish. They responded to back-to-back defeats with an emphatic 4-2 victory over Espanyol in their latest outing.
Atletico have been strong at the back this campaign, slipping just 23 goals in 25 matches and their attack has been efficient putting 42 across the white line.
Head-to-Head
Atletico Madrid hold the advantage heading into this weekend in terms of head-to-head having won all three of the teams last meetings 2-0 with the latest occurring in November last year.

Real Oviedo 5.25
Draw 3.75
Atletico Madrid 1.71
Verdict
Given the difference in squad depth and performance this season and Atletico’s defensive structure, this looks a favourable matchup for the visitors. Oviedo may compete on home soil, but over 90 minutes Atletico’s discipline and attacking efficiency should shine through. I am backing them to win this fixture without Oviedo finding the back of the net.

SUNDAY:
BETIS vs SEVILLA
Betis are currently 5th in the rankings with 42 points and remain in strong contention for European qualification. They have lost just once in their last five league fixtures, securing notable wins over Atletico Madrid and Valencia, while drawing 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano in their most recent match.
They have been solid in front of goal, scoring 40 times but they lack defensive solidity having let 30 shots beat their keeper.
Sevilla sit 12th overall on 29 points and have battled to build any proper momentum this season. Although they secured a 1-0 away win over Getafe last time out, they have conceded 39 goals this campaign and have found it difficult to string positive results together.
The side have found a slight incline in their performance of late going unbeaten in four of their last five games of which they have won two, drawn two and lost the remainder.
Head-to-Head
Betis won the reverse fixture 2-0 earlier this season, while last term produced a 1-0 win for Sevilla on home soil and a 2-1 victory for Betis at home.

Betis 1.80
Draw 3.75
Sevilla 4.50
Verdict
With Betis enjoying the stronger season and playing in front of their own fans in what is always a fiercely contested derby, they look well positioned to edge this encounter. Sevilla’s inconsistency may once again prove costly, leaning my pick in Betis’ favour.
BET: Betis to Win at 1.80
