SATURDAY:
ESPANYOL vs CELTA VIGO
Espanyol currently occupy 6th place on the standings with 34 points from 23 matches. Despite their healthy league position, their recent form has been worrying as they have lost four of their last five matches, conceding 11 goals in the process.
Their latest outing resulted in a heavy 4-1 defeat away to Villarreal, which followed losses to Alaves, Valencia and Girona. They have scored 27 goals this season while conceding 31, indicating a side capable going forward but vulnerable at the back.
Celta Vigo sit just behind in 7th spot on 33 points and remain firmly in contention for Conference League qualification. Their record of 30 goals scored and 25 conceded proves they are a balanced outfit, however, they too arrive on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Osasuna, a draw to Getafe and a 3-1 loss to Real Sociedad on the road.
Prior to that they had picked up solid results including a 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano and a 1-0 success at Sevilla during January.
Head-to-Head
Espanyol have enjoyed the better of recent meetings, winning the last three league clashes including a 1-0 away victory earlier this season. They met twice in the 2024/25 La Liga season where Espanyol won with 3-1 and 2-0 scorelines.

Espanyol 2.45
Draw 3.25
Celta Vigo 3.00
Verdict
Both sides come into this clash low on confidence defensively, but Espanyol’s recent dominance in this fixture cannot be ignored. With home advantage and a strong head-to-head trend, I expect them to respond after a difficult run of results.
BET: Espanyol to Win at 2.45
REAL MADRID vs REAL SOCIEDAD
Real Madrid are 2nd on the table with 57 points from 23 matches and gunning for the title. They have been in excellent form, winning seven consecutive league matches while scoring 17 goals and conceding just 3. Their most recent victory was a comfortable 2-0 win away against Valencia.
The side have netted 49 goals this campaign while letting only 18 past the keeper, reflecting their dominance at both ends of the pitch.
Real Sociedad sit 8th on 31 points and have quietly pieced together an impressive run of results. They have won four of their last five matches, including a notable 2-1 victory over Barcelona and a 3-1 success at home against Elche the last time they took to the pitch.
With 33 goals scored and 31 conceded, they remain competitive but inconsistent defensively although they have gone unbeaten in their last three travels.
Head-to-Head
Real Madrid claimed a 2-1 away win in the reverse fixture earlier this campaign and also secured a 2-0 home victory last season.

Real Madrid 1.38
Draw 5.25
Real Sociedad 7.00
Verdict
Although Sociedad arrive in good form, Real Madrid’s consistency and home strength should swing the game in their favour. Given Madrid’s defensive solidity and potent attacking potential, they look set to continue their winning streak in a one-sided affair.

SUNDAY:
RAYO VALLECANO vs ATLETICO MADRID
Rayo Vallecano are 18th on the log with 22 points and remain in the fight to avoid being dropped to La Liga 2. They have let in 30 goals across 22 matches and have been unable to stay in the winning column, losing three fixtures in a row.
Their most recent clash scheduled against Oviedo was postponed while before that they narrowly lost 2-1 to Real Madrid away from home and were beaten 3-1 by Osasuna despite entering the clash as favourites.
Atletico Madrid are 3rd with 45 points and boast the best defensive record in the division, having conceded just 18 goals all season. They suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Betis in their most recent match, but before that they had gone unbeaten for six consecutive encounters.
Their away form has been their downfall this campaign having won three, drawn five and lost three of their games on opposition soil, highlighting their lack of finishing ability away from home.
Head-to-Head
Atletico claimed a 3-2 triumph in the first leg last year and have consistently proven too strong for their rivals, winning four of their last five head-to-heads with the remainder ending in a draw. Games between the sides are usually high scoring with Atletico dominating possession and executing in front of goal.

Rayo Vallecano 4.25
Draw 3.50
Atletico Madrid 1.87
Verdict
With Rayo struggling near the bottom and Atletico possessing higher quality as well as defensive organisation, the visitors should bounce back from their recent defeat. Atletico’s dominance in this matchup further strengthens the case and I am backing them to get the job done.
BET: Atletico Madrid win at 1.87
