LIVERPOOL vs MANCHESTER CITY
Liverpool sit 6th on the table having battled to remain in touch with the teams above them on the log and although they have shown flashes of solid form, inconsistency continues to hold them back, leaving them on 39 points. They produced an impressive 4-1 home win over Newcastle last time out, which followed a 3-2 defeat away to Bournemouth. Prior to that they were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Anfield.
With 39 goals scored and 33 conceded, Liverpool have been entertaining in front of goal but vulnerable at the back.
Manchester City are 2nd overall holding 47 points and appear to be suffering a slight decline in momentum in their pursuit for the title. City played out a 2-2 draw away to Tottenham in their most recent fixture, which came after a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Wolves, which is their only win across their last six fixtures.
Although they were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United earlier in January, City have remained difficult to overcome finding the back of the net 49 times while letting just 23 past the keeper in their 24 matches played.
Head-to-Head
Earlier this season Manchester City recorded a convincing 3-0 home win over Liverpool, while last season’s two league meetings both concluded in 2-0 triumphs for Liverpool who went in slight favourites on each occasion.

Liverpool 2.35

Manchester City 2.75
Verdict
Both sides come into this clash with attacking confidence but Manchester City look the more settled unit at present. Liverpool remain dangerous at Anfield although their defensive issues could be exposed by City’s movement and control in midfield. I am expecting goals with City just edging a competitive contest.

BRIGHTON vs CRYSTAL PALACE
Brighton are 13th on the table on 31 points and have found consistency hard to come by in recent weeks. The side were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Everton in their latest test which followed a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Fulham a week prior. They have now drawn three of their last five league matches, indicating their difficulties faced in turning stalemates into victories.
They have scored 34 goals and conceded 32 this season, remaining competitive in most games but often struggle to show a clinical edge in the first half.
Crystal Palace sit 15th on the log with 29 points after a tough season in terms of consistent form. Palace settled for a 1-1 draw away to Nottingham Forest the last time they took to the pitch and before that they lost 3-1 to Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
Goals have been a major issue with just 25 scored this season while defensive lapses have led to 29 being let in at the back.
Head-to-Head
The sides played out a goalless draw earlier this season on Crystal Palace turf, while last term Crystal Palace claimed a 3-1 away win in Brighton before edging the return fixture 2-1 at home.

Brighton 1.98
Draw 3.65
Crystal Palace 3.75
Verdict
These teams know each other well and matches between them are often cagey affairs. Brighton have home advantage but Palace are capable of frustrating their opponents and keeping things tight. I expect a competitive derby with limited chances on both ends and a low scoreline.
