The second T20 International between South Africa and West Indies takes place on Thursday the 29th of January at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion. Following a dominant display in the opening match, the Proteas hold a 1-0 lead and we take a closer look at the second encounter from a betting angle, offering up some bets for your consideration.
South Africa vs West Indies – 1st T20 Summary
South Africa set the tone for the series with a commanding 9-wicket victory in the first T20 that took place in Paarl. After being sent in to bat first by the Proteas, the visitors posted a competitive 173/7 from their 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer was the standout performer for the West Indies, top scoring with a fluent 48 off 32 balls, while Rovman Powell added a useful 29 not out from 25 deliveries. Brandon King provided a brisk start with 27 from just 16 balls, but the innings lacked sustained momentum through the middle overs.
For South Africa, George Linde was the standout performer with the ball, returning excellent figures of 3 for 25 in his four overs having been given the new ball. He was well supported by Keshav Maharaj who claimed 2 for 44 and Corbin Bosch who chipped in with 2 for 35. Their combined efforts kept the West Indies in check and prevented them from pushing beyond the 180 mark.
In response, South Africa’s batting was clinical and composed. Lhuan-dre Pretorius impressed at the top of the order with a lively 44 from 28 balls, while captain Aiden Markram anchored the chase superbly with 86 from just 47 deliveries, striking 9 fours and 3 sixes. Ryan Rickelton provided support with a calm 40 not out from 32 balls to take the South Africans over the line.
Roston Chase was the only one to strike on the West Indian bowling end, picking up figures of 1 for 31 runs across his four over spell.
The Proteas reached the target in just 17.5 overs, finishing on 176/1 and securing a comfortable victory with 13 balls to spare. Notably, Linde was named Player of the Match for his match altering spell.

SUGGESTED BETS
Top South Africa Batter – Aiden Markram at 4.25
Markram was in sublime form in the opening T20I, striking 86 at a strike rate of nearly 183. Batting at the front he controlled the tempo of the chase perfectly and looked in complete command throughout. He is the sort of player who can string big performances together and he looks a good bet at the price.
Top West Indies Batter – Sherfane Rutherford at 5.75
Rutherford had a tough time in the last game being dismissed early but the important thing to me is that he was pushed up the order and hopefully the West Indies will stick to the strategy of giving him time at the crease.
Match Total Sixes over 15.5 at 1.87
Centurion is a ground where the sixes usually fly and given there were 14 in Paarl a ground where sixes are harder to come by I fancy this line and will be hoping that South Africa bat first.
