The African Cup of Nations ends with the third place play-off on Saturday, followed by Sunday night’s final. We look at both games offering up some betting angles for consideration.
Third Place Play-off: Egypt vs Nigeria

Egypt arrive here after a narrow 1–0 semi-final defeat to Senegal, a match settled by a late goal. They have been competitive throughout the tournament and remain disciplined and well organised.
Nigeria will be disappointed not to be contesting the final after losing to Morocco on penalties following a 0–0 draw after extra time. They have arguably been the most dangerous attacking side in the competition, but that semi-final highlighted how they can be frustrated when space is limited.

Verdict
Nigeria look the more likely winners if motivation levels are high, but third place play-offs can be unpredictable and are often best approached conservatively.
Given that the stakes are not as high as in the other playoff games we may well get goals in this one.

AFCON Final: Senegal vs Morocco

Venue: Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat
A fitting final between two of the most complete sides in the tournament. Senegal have combined physicality with control and have found a way through tight matches, edging Egypt 1–0 in the semi-final and continuing their impressive defensive run.
Morocco, playing at home, have handled the pressure superbly. They beat Cameroon 2–0 in the quarter-finals before edging Nigeria on penalties after a goalless semi-final. Their structure, patience and game management have been key strengths throughout the competition.

Verdict
This has all the hallmarks of a classic AFCON final: tight, tactical and likely decided by a single moment. Morocco’s home advantage is significant, but Senegal have the physical profile to frustrate them.
