The Premiership midweek action continues on Wednesday the 22nd of October, featuring two blockbuster fixtures under the lights. Kaizer Chiefs look to close the gap on the leaders Sundowns, when they host Siwelele at the FNB Stadium, while Orlando Pirates aim to maintain their title charge at home against a competitive Polokwane City. We take a closer look at both matchups from a betting point of view below.
Kaizer Chiefs vs Siwelele – click here to bet
Kaizer Chiefs head into this encounter sitting 4th on the table with fifteen points from eight matches, and though unbeaten in their last two games, they’ve been held to successive 1-1 draws by AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants with both fixtures being played at home.
Their defensive structure underlines stability, but their attack has yet to fully click.
Siwelele, meanwhile, remain near the bottom with just seven points from nine games which leaves them in 14th overall. Their struggles have continued recently, losing two fixtures on the road and one at home during September, though a 1-0 win over Gallants at home in their latest clash offered a much needed lift in confidence.
They’ll need to be far more composed defensively to contain Chiefs’ attacking movement in front of a hostile crowd on Wednesday.
Head-to-Head:
This will be the first-ever meeting between Kaizer Chiefs and the newly formed Siwelele Football Club.
Odds: Kaizer Chiefs 1.44 | Draw 4.25 | Siwelele 8.50
Verdict: Chiefs’ experience and home advantage should see them through against a Siwelele outfit still finding their identity at this level and I am going to back them to win by more than a goal.
Bet: Result – Asian Handicap, Kaizer Chiefs -1.5 goals at 2.35

Orlando Pirates vs Polokwane City – click here to bet
Orlando Pirates have hit top form, winning five consecutive league matches and climbing to third with 15 points from seven outings. Their recent 2-0 win over TS Galaxy and a professional 1-0 away victory at Siwelele highlighted their defensive organisation and ability to strike on attack.
With home advantage, the Buccaneers will be confident of another strong display.
Polokwane City have been one of the season’s surprise packages, starting the campaign off strong and sitting on 15 points from nine games of which they have won four, drawn three and lost two. That leaves them 6th on the log.
They’ve been stubborn defensively but inconsistent away from home, with a 1-0 defeat to Orbit College their only victory on their travels. Their last match was a 1-0 home win over Sekhukhune.
Head-to-Head:
This fixture has been one-sided in recent years. Pirates have won 8 of the last 9 meetings against Polokwane City, including a 2-0 victory in the MTN 8 Cup earlier this season and a 1-0 league win away in April, which followed a dominant showing in September last year where Pirates won 3-0 at home.
Odds: Orlando Pirates 1.36 | Draw 4.75 | Polokwane City 11.00
Verdict: Pirates’ superior squad depth and excellent defensive form make them heavy favourites to take all three points at home, and I am going to back them to do so without conceding. Pirates have only conceded 1 goal in 4 home matches and Polokwane have only scored 2 in 4 on the road.
Bet: Result – Orlando Pirates to win at 1.36
