The UEFA qualifying action continues on Saturday and we look at two of the matches from a betting angle.
PORTUGAL vs IRELAND
Portugal currently top Group F with a 100% record after two matches. They opened their campaign with a 5-0 hammering of Armenia but found the going a bit tougher in Hungary last time out where they required an 86th minute winner for the 3-2 victory.
Ireland are currently 4th on the table after 1 draw and 1 loss in their opening two games. That draw came at home against Hungary 2-2 and they were then away to Armenia where they started even money favourites but were unable to recover from a 2-0 deficit going down 2-1.
Head-to-Head
These sides last met in a friendly International last year, Portugal winning 3-0.
Betting
Portugal 1.16
Draw 8.00
Ireland 17.00
Verdict
Portugal are understandably overwhelming favourites for this one and over 2.5 goals has arrived in all 4 of these sides qualification matches with 3 of those games going to at least 4 goals. The over 3.5 goals looks the value play.
BET: Over 3.5 goals at 2.25
SPAIN vs GEORGIA
Spain currently top Group E with two wins in their opening two matches. They beat Bulgaria 3-0 on the road before travelling to Turkey where they won 6-0, a game where they started 5/10 favourites.
Georgia are 2nd on the table with 1 win and 1 loss. That loss came first time out at home to Turkey when they went down 3-2 but they bounced back strongly against Bulgaria last time out where they started 1/4 favourites and justified the bookies confidence with a 3-0 home win.
Head-to-Head
These sides have met regularly over the last 3 years with Spain winning on each occasion.
Betting
Spain 1.14
Draw 9.00
Georgia 18.00
Verdict
Spain should win this comfortably but in 4 of the 5 defeats that Georgia have suffered to Spain since 2022 they have managed to score a goal.
BET: Both teams to score , yes, at 2.25
