Serie A Weekend Betting Preview, 4-5 October
After five rounds, Serie A is already serving up plenty of drama, from newly promoted Cremonese holding their own against the league’s big guns, to Juventus quietly picking up an unbeaten run. Milan sit on top for now, but the gaps at the summit are razor-thin, and this weekend gives the chasing pack another chance to make a real statement. There are three fixtures that really stand out, each bringing its own betting angles and storylines to keep an eye on.
In the latest title market, Napoli remain the team to beat at 12/10, but Inter Milan aren’t far behind at 3/1. League leaders AC Milan have shortened to 33/10, while Juventus sit at 15/2, leaving the rest of the field priced at 9/1 or bigger.

SATURDAY
INTER MILAN v CREMONESE – Click here to bet
Inter Milan return to San Siro on Saturday aiming to make it a fifth straight win in all competitions as they host Serie A newcomers Cremonese. Cristian Chivu’s men had a rocky start with two defeats in their opening three games, but they’ve clearly found their rhythm. Last weekend’s solid 2-0 win at Cagliari was followed by a midweek Champions League triumph over Slavia Prague, giving them four wins on the bounce. Inter sit fifth with nine points from five matches (W3 L2), and at home they’ve already fired in eight goals from three games. Their attack is versatile and potent, though they’ll need to tighten up defensively if they want to avoid any slip-ups.
Cremonese have made a strong return to the top flight under Davide Nicola, remaining unbeaten in their first five games (W2 D3) and sitting impressively in 7th place. They’ve shown they can frustrate bigger teams, but their last three league matches have all finished in draws, including a 1-1 at Como last weekend, hinting at struggles to close out games. On the road, they’ve been solid with a win and two draws from three games, conceding just twice. Their surprise 2-1 win over AC Milan at San Siro on the opening weekend proves they can pull off an upset, though repeating that magic at the same venue this weekend will be tough.
Head-to-Head
The clubs last met in 2022/23, when Inter Milan secured a league double, winning 3-1 at San Siro before following up with a 2-1 victory away from home.
Betting
Inter Milan 2/9
Draw 6/1
Cremonese 12/1
Verdict
Cremonese’s unbeaten record is impressive, but Inter’s recent upturn in form and strong attacking numbers at San Siro should give them the edge. Expect the Nerazzurri to take control, and if they strike early, the visitors could struggle to keep the scoreline respectable.
Suggested Bet: Handicap – Inter Milan -1.5 at 5/8
SUNDAY
FIORENTINA v AS ROMA – Click here to bet
Fiorentina welcome Roma to the Artemio Franchi as they hunt for their first win of the season, with pressure mounting after a frustrating start. Stefano Pioli’s side sit 16th with just three points from five matches (D3 L2), and last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Pisa offered a small boost after consecutive league defeats. Home form has been particularly poor with two losses from two games and five goals conceded and Thursday’s European trip to Sigma Olomouc only shortens their prep. La Viola will need a major lift in both intensity and sharpness if they’re going to trouble a Roma side that’s flying high.
Roma arrive in Florence full of confidence after a bright start to the season. Gian Piero Gasperini’s team sit 3rd with 12 points (W4 L1), built on a rock-solid defence that’s conceded just once in the league. Last weekend’s 2-0 win over Verona was their fourth victory in five matches, and their away record is flawless with two games, two wins, zero goals conceded. A Thursday Europa League clash against Lille does add a wrinkle, but squad rotation has worked well so far, and confidence is sky-high after back-to-back wins. With balance across midfield and attack, Roma look well set to keep their strong early-season form going.
Head-to-Head
Fiorentina blew Roma away with a stunning 5-1 win at home, but the return fixture in the capital was a tight affair, with Roma sneaking a 1-0 victory.
Betting
Fiorentina 2/1
Draw 23/10
AS Roma 15/10
Verdict
Roma’s defensive record and away form contrast sharply with Fiorentina’s lack of cutting edge, particularly at home. The hosts will give everything to spark a turnaround, but Roma look the better-organised side and could put an end to their four-game winless streak at this ground.
Suggested Bet: Draw No Bet – AS Roma at 15/20
JUVENTUS v AC MILAN – Click here to bet
Serie A saves its headline clash for Sunday evening as Juventus welcome AC Milan to the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Juve have been solid at home this season, unbeaten with two wins and a draw, scoring seven and conceding four in those matches. Momentum has stalled slightly after back-to-back 1-1 draws against Verona and Atalanta, which ended a strong run and could leave them eager to prove a point against a top side. Igor Tudor’s men will be hoping home advantage can give them an edge, though a midweek trip to Villarreal (yet to take place at the time of writing) could stretch their resources and leave a few legs weary for this heavyweight clash.
AC Milan arrive in Turin as Serie A leaders, riding a five-match winning streak across all competitions. Their most recent success, a 2-1 victory at home over Napoli, showed both attacking firepower and defensive discipline. Milan have been flawless on the road so far, winning both away games without conceding and scoring five in total. With no European distractions this season, Massimiliano Allegri’s men can focus fully on domestic duties, giving them a freshness and cohesion that makes them very hard to oppose given current run of form.
Head-to-Head
Last season’s league meetings favoured Juventus, who took four points with a draw at San Siro and a 2-0 win in Turin. Milan did, however, claim a 2-1 victory in the Italian Super Cup semi-final.
Betting
Juventus 33/20
Draw 9/4
AC Milan 18/10
Verdict
This clash has the makings of a tactical battle. Juventus’ unbeaten record and strong home form make them difficult to back against, but Milan’s excellent away form and confidence as leaders tip the scales slightly in their favour. Both teams carry plenty of goal threat, so goals at both ends looks a solid angle.
Suggested Bet: Both Teams to Score – Yes at 5/6
