Kaizer Chiefs enter the fixture in 5th place with 14 points from seven matches, losing just once so far this season. Their recent form has been mixed, drawing 1–1 with Marumo Gallants at home last week after suffering a 3–1 home defeat against Sekhukhune. Prior to that, they had shown signs of momentum, edging Golden Arrows 1–0 away and holding champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a goalless draw.
Defensively, Chiefs remain fairly solid with only four goals conceded, but consistency in attack has been an issue, netting just seven goals across their campaign.
AmaZulu sit 9th with 11 points after seven outings, registering three wins, two draws, and two defeats. Their latest action resulted in a tough 3–1 loss to TS Galaxy away from home, halting the progress they made with a 2–1 victory over Stellenbosch earlier in the month.
The side have struggled to string together back-to-back wins, though their ability to hold stronger opponents, including a 1–1 draw with Sekhukhune in August, shows they can be competitive on the road.
Head-to-Head
This fixture has been tightly contested over the years, with Chiefs holding the upper hand. In the last 20 meetings, Chiefs have won seven, AmaZulu four, while nine matches ended level. Last season, Chiefs won 3–1 away in September before playing out a 2–2 home draw in February in the reverse leg. AmaZulu did, however, claim a surprise 1–0 Carling Knockout Cup win at FNB Stadium in October 2023, proving they cannot be underestimated in this clash.
Odds: Kaizer Chiefs 1.95 | Draw 2.90 | AmaZulu 4.75
Verdict
Both teams enter with inconsistent recent results, but Chiefs strong home record and overall head-to-head dominance make them favourites. AmaZulu have shown resilience in patches, but their away form has lacked cutting edge. I believe Chiefs should have just enough quality to edge a narrow contest.
Bet: Result and Both Teams to Score – Kaizer Chiefs and No at 2.70
