England vs South Africa, 3rd T20 Betting Preview, 14 September 2025

England and South Africa conclude their three-match T20 series on Sunday the 14th of September at
Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham. With the series now level at 1-1 after two contrasting
encounters, this decider promises to be a thrilling battle as both sides fight to claim the series win.

We take a look at the final match from a betting angle.

England vs South Africa – 2nd T20 summary

The second T20 at Old Trafford was a complete contrast to the rain-affected opener, producing one
of the most dominant performances England have ever delivered in the format. After being put into
bat first, the hosts wasted no time taking control as Jos Buttler and Phil Salt launched a brutal assault
during the Powerplay. The pair raced to 126 before the opening wicket fell in the 8 th over, with
Buttler hammering 83 from only 30 balls at a strike rate of 276. His innings featured 8 fours and 7
sixes before he finally fell to Bjorn Fortuin.

Salt, however, carried on the momentum and played the innings of his life. Combining raw power
with smart placement, he smashed 141 not out from just 60 deliveries, striking 15 boundaries and 8
maximums. Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook also chipped in with 26 and 41 runs respectively, ensuring
there was no decline in the scoring rate. England finished with a staggering 304/2, their highest ever
T20 total, scoring at over 15 runs per over.

South Africa’s bowlers endured a tough outing, with Rabada conceding 70 runs, Jansen 60, and
Williams 62, while only Bjorn Fortuin found some reward with 2 wickets for 52 runs.

SOUTH AFRICA SET TALL TASK

Faced with a target of 305, South Africa needed a miracle. Skipper, Aiden Markram gave them early
hope with a quickfire 41 from 20 balls, supported briefly by Ryan Rickelton’s 20 off 10. But once Adil
Rashid removed Markram in the 8th over, leaving South Africa on 77/4, the innings collapsed at a
rapid rate. Donovan Ferreira’s cameo of 23 off 11 hinted at resistance, but England’s bowlers kept
striking at regular intervals, and the last South African batsman to impact the scoreboard was
Fortuin who struck 32 runs from 16 deliveries.

Jofra Archer was the standout with ball in hand, claiming figures of 3/25 across his 3 over spell, while
Sam Curran and Liam Dawson contributed another two wickets each to tighten the screws. Will Jacks
was also superb in his only over claiming 2 wickets while conceding just 2 runs.

The Proteas were eventually bowled out for 158 in just 16.1 overs, falling a massive 146 runs short.
England’s dominance levelled the series 1–1, and Phil Salt was rightly awarded Player of the Match
for his record-breaking knock, which will be remembered as one of the finest individual T20
performances.

SUGGESTED BETS

Top England Batter – Phil Salt at 3.30
Salt’s devastating 141 not out at Old Trafford was one of the great T20 innings, and his aggressive
form at the top makes him a big runner to lead England’s run scoring once again on Sunday.

Top South Africa Batter – Aiden Markram at 3.50
Markram showed his class with a rapid 41 in the second game, and as captain he will be central to
South Africa’s hopes in this decider. His recent form has been strong and I am hoping he will anchor the innings.
