South Africa arrives at The Ageas Bowl with a 2–0 lead in the three-match ODI series after two commanding victories that sealed the series. England must respond to avoid a series whitewash, while the Proteas will look to finish the tour strongly. We take a look at the match from a betting perspective.
2nd ODI – England vs South Africa Summary
The second ODI at Lord’s was a thrilling contest that went down to the final deliveries. England, electing to field first, witnessed South Africa post a competitive 330/8 from their fifty overs. The Proteas innings was anchored by Matthew Breetzke, who scored a magnificent 85 off 77 balls, and was well accompanied by Aiden Markram who struck 49 as well as Tristan Stubbs scoring 58. Dewald Brevis provided an explosive cameo of 42 off 20 balls in the back end of the innings, ensuring South Africa maintained a strong scoring rate throughout.
England’s bowlers had moments of control, with Jofra Archer taking four wickets for 62 runs, while Adil Rashid chipped in with two key wickets, however, extras, particularly wides, proved costly for England and highlighted discipline issues in their bowling attack.
Chasing 331, England fought back valiantly. Joe Root led the charge with 61 off 72 balls, while Jacob Bethell impressed with 58 from 40. Jos Buttler scored 61 off 51 deliveries and Will Jacks added a quickfire 39, keeping England in the hunt until the very end. Despite their efforts, England fell agonisingly short, finishing on 325/9, handing South Africa a five-run victory.
On the South African end, it was Nandre Burger who claimed best bowling figures, taking 3 wickets for 63 runs across his 10 over spell, runner up was none other than Keshav Maharaj who claimed 2 important wickets.
Matthew Breetzke was named Player of the Match for his all-important contribution with the bat.

England 1.65
South Africa 2.20
Suggested Bets:
Top South Africa Batter – Aiden Markram at 3.55
Despite falling on 49 runs in the last match, Makram looked solid once again with bat in hand. I am baking him for another big knock in a format that he thrives in.
Top English Bowler – Adil Rashid at 3.05
Rashid has been dangerous across the first two matches due to the turn he produces, although he only took two wickets on Thursday, He is always in with a shout and I expect the SA batsman to chance their arm against him.
South Africa win at 2.20
They got hammered in the dead rubber in Australia but anything better than 1/1 looks value based on what I have seen so far.
