SATURDAY
ORLANDO PIRATES vs MAMELODI SUNDOWNS – Orlando Stadium, 15:00
Orlando Pirates got their tournament underway with a comfortable 2-0 win over Polokwane City in their quarterfinal clash. The Buccaneers controlled the match from start to finish, scoring both goals in the first half, while keeping their opponents at bay with solid defensive organisation.
This result keeps their hopes alive of defending their MTN 8 crown for the fourth consecutive year.
Pirates have had a poor start to the league though and have lost their 1st two games.
Mamelodi Sundowns produced the standout result of the quarterfinals, brushing aside Richards Bay with a dominant 4-0 display. The team showcased their attacking depth and clinical finishing, scoring twice in each half and barely allowing their opponents a sniff at goal.
Sundowns who have 4 points from a possible 6 in the PSL, remain the most consistent side in South African football and will be eager to claim another piece of silverware.

Orlando Pirates 3.38
Draw 2.60
Mamelodi Sundowns 2.55
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The two giants met twice in the last PSL season with Sundowns winning the first 4-1 on home soil, however the second match was won 2-1 by Orlando Pirates at home. The last time they met in MTN 8 Cup format was in 2023 where Pirates won the game 1-0.
VERDICT
This is set to be a high quality and tightly contested clash. Sundowns come into this with tremendous form and attacking power, while Pirates’ defensive resilience could make them tricky to break down. I think Sundowns edge this one in a low scoring encounter.
BET: Sundowns win at 2.55
STELLENBOSCH vs SEKHUKHUNE UNITED – Danie Craven Stadium, 18:00
Stellenbosch advanced to the semi-finals after edging AmaZulu 3-2 in a thrilling Round of 16 clash. After losing the lead early, Stellies then pulled it back, scoring two goals. This was followed up by AmaZulu who then equalized, and the game was finally decided in extra time during the 108th minute when Stellenbosch found the back of the net.
Their attacking play continues to be a highlight, and they will look to make home advantage count.
Stellenbosch are off to a slow start in the league with just 1 point from 2 games.
Sekhukhune United were involved in the most dramatic quarterfinal due to picking up a solid comeback victory, overcoming TS Galaxy 3-2 in a pulsating contest. After falling behind by two goals in the first 40 minutes, Sekhukhune struck back just before half time, heading into the break just one goal behind.
The second half saw them seize control, scoring twice to secure the win and advance to the Round of 8.
They are off to an excellent start in the PSL with maximum points after 2 games.

Stellenbosch 2.25
Draw 3.00
Sekhukhune United 3.40
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Their most recent meetings in the PSL were both tight affairs. Stellenbosch’s home leg was drawn 1-1 and they then went on to beat Sekhukhune 2-1 on the road in their latest clash. This fixture will be interesting as they have not met in the MTN Cup in recent years.
VERDICT
Both teams showed attacking flair in their quarterfinals, but Stellenbosch’s consistency at home could be the deciding factor. I am leaning towards Stellies to book their place in the final in another entertaining match.
BET: Result and Totals – Stellenbosch to win and over 1.5 goals at 3.20
