GRIQUAS vs WESTERN PROVINCE – click here to bet
The Griquas opened their season with a loss to the Pumas away from home but followed that up with a dramatic come from behind win against Boland last weekend with the match ending 48-39.
Province are coming off back-to-back losses as they lost to the Bulls in the first week and then the Lions last weekend with that match ending 40-19.
Head-to-Head
What might come as a surprise to some, the Griquas have a very solid record against Western Province in the Currie Cup their last five head to heads. The most recent match in last year’s tournament saw the Griquas win 37-29 at home.
Betting and Verdict
The Griquas are favourites to win the match and are trading at 1.50 while Western Province are trading at 3.00 for the win. The draw is currently at 23.00.
I can understand why Griquas are favourites but they have been leaking points and I think a desperate WP team can beat the handicap.
Handicap: Griquas [-6.5]
BET: Handicap, Western Province [+6.5] at 1.90.
SATURDAY
BLUE BULLS vs PUMAS – click here to bet
The Bulls are coming into this week off the back of two very impressive wins. They opened their campaign with a 23-48 win against Province away from home and then hosted the Sharks and thrashed them 64-0.
The Pumas opened their account with a 49-28 win against the Griquas in the first round but then went on to lose to the Cheetahs 42-25 in the second round away from home.

The Bulls have won four of their last five matches against the Pumas with the most recent result being a 24-40 win away from home last season.
Betting and Verdict
The Bookies have the Bulls as heavy favourites to win the match and have them trading at 1.01 while the Pumas are trading at 21.00. The draw is currently at 76.00.
After last week’s performance against the Sharks, I think we are in for another convincing win from the Bulls.
Handicap: Blue Bulls [-27.5]
BET: Handicap, Bulls [-27.5] at 1.90.
SHARKS vs CHEETAHS – click here to bet
The Sharks opened their campaign with back-to-back losses to the Lions and the Bulls both away from home. They only managed to score one try across both games while conceding 110 points.
The Cheetahs are coming off the back of a solid win against the Pumas last weekend at home where the match ended 42-25. Round 1 saw them lose narrowly to Boland 37-35 away from home.
Head-to-Head
The Sharks have won three of the last five matches between the two sides. The most recent fixture saw the Sharks win 20-25 away from home in last years competition.
Betting and Verdict
The bookies have the Cheetahs as favourites to win, trading at 1.53 while the Sharks are trading at 2.90. The draw is currently at 23.00.
Although the Sharks have had a very bad start to their Currie Cup season, I think returning home (albeit at the Sugar Ray Zulu Stadium) will be just what they need to get their first win under their belt. They have won four of their last five matches at home in all competitions.
Handicap: Sharks [+4.5]
BET: Sharks to win at 2.90
SUNDAY
BOLAND vs GOLDEN LIONS – click here to bet
Boland had a brilliant start to their campaign as they beat the Cheetahs 37-35 at home in the first round. They then travelled to play the Griquas and put up a solid fight but ended up losing the match 48-39.
The Lions have had the perfect start to their campaign, winning their first two matches against the Sharks and Western Province. The match against Province last weekend ended 40-19. This will be their 1st away match.

The two sides last met in 2016 where Boland won the first fixture 28-24 while the Lions came back to win the second fixture 60-12.
Betting and Verdict
The Lions are favourites to win the match and are trading at 1.05 while the bookies have Boland at 13.00. The draw is currently at 51.00.
The Lions have a very strong Currie Cup squad this year and I don’t see them slowing down any time soon as they look to dominate the competition early on. I think we will see a big win from the Lions.
Handicap: Boland [+19.5]
BET: Handicap, Lions [-19.5] at 1.95.
